Kids have participated in many talent shows throughout the years. America's Got Talent and Star Search to name a few. Star Search even had a past American Idol contestant on it's show, David Archuleta. America loves to see kids sing and perform. The younger and cuter they are the better. Remember Kaitlyn Maher from America's Got Talent? There are many talented little singers just like her that we do not even know about. American Idol for Kids would give them an opportunity to sing and share their talent with others.
I am surprised American Idol hasn't lowered it's age limit to 2 seeing how high the ratings jump would be. In my opinion, they could start a whole other American Idol just for the kids and it would do just as well as American Idol has, if not better. Of course Simon would have to tone it down a bit or he would send home many a kid in tears. Not to mention having to deal with angry parents.
American Idol for Kids would be a hit and a money maker (looking from The Powers That Be stand point). More than that it would be fun and entertaining. It would showcase all of the wonderful and talented kids we have across America, and even in our own neighborhoods. Who wouldn't want to watch this? It could actually be a show that the whole family could sit down, watch and enjoy.
It could even be named American Idol, Jr. They could have this show televised while American Idol is holding auditions and off the air. We would have our American Idol fix year round. There have been many talent shows for kids but this show would only showcase singers. This would make the show unique. It could definitely work.
They could also change up the judges and bring in new judges for American Idol for Kids or American Idol, Jr. (can't figure out which I like better). They could bring in younger judges that would appeal to the smaller talent.
Just remember where this idea came from when one day you turn on your tv set and see a promo for American Idol for Kids.

Guess I should've done my research. Apparently a few years back there was a Junior Idol. I had never heard of it or seen it. Maybe they will bring it back.
