There is Fun in the Sun Waiting for You at LETRA!
Swimming, Hiking, Playgrounds and a Waterslide Are Just Some of the Fun Things to Enjoy
Ft. Sill, OK 73503
United States of America
A lakeside recreation area surrounded by the scenic Wichita Mountains, LETRA abounds with a variety of activities and fun for everyone.
Folks can play on the beach and splash in the water, or there is a double flume waterslide with twists, turns, and curves that plunges into a 4 foot pool and paddle boats, water bikes, and canoes are rented in season. Rentals are available only to those 13 years of age and older. Buoys designate the areas in which these vehicles may be used. Rides range from $4 per hour for non-motored vehicles.
Boating is allowed, with a boat ramp located on the east side of the facility. However, as a "no-wake" lake, Lake Elmer Thomas does not allow water skiing, jet skis, or other personal watercraft.
An 18 hole, miniature golf course is located lakeside for additional fun on those lazy, sunny afternoons. The lake is stocked with fish, and fishing is permissible with an Oklahoma state fishing license required for those who are 16 years and older.
There are RV campsites with 68 full service hookups, primitive tent camping sites, and even a country store complete with supplies and bait. Campers are required to pay fees and register at the administration office. Both campsite areas at LETRA have sewer, electric, and water service. Open fires are prohibited.
Also available are several group use areas that are perfect for company picnics, family reunions, or other private gatherings.
LETRA is open for the summer season beginning May 26 through September 4. Operating hours for the beach area are Wednesday and Thursday noon to 6 pm and Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 10 am to 6 pm.
Admission to LETRA is $5 per carload for authorized MWR patrons, and $6 per carload for all others. With your admission fee you get access to each area, playgrounds, hiking trails, and double flume waterslide. Season passes are also available.
For more information on LETRA or to book one of the private use facilities, call 1-800-375-8270 or visit their website at LETRA.
LETRA is located 12 miles NW of the main post at Ft. Sill, OK. It can be accessed by using the Apache Gate on Highway 49. (Please note that since you are entering a military installation, you will need to have proper identification for all adults in your vehicle and the vehicle may be subject to search.)
