There is Snow in Houston

Jay Queen
When the weather forecast predicted that there will be snow in Houston on December 4th, 2009, no one believed it. I overheard a man later say that the weather reporters do not know what they are talking about and they have no idea what God has in mind. I was in just as much denial as anyone else, stating that if it really did snow in Houston, I was moving back to California. Well, today is the 4th and low and behold, there is snow. When I woke up this morning, there was not just snow but rain also. It was also freezing. It is almost four and I can see the white flakes falling through the window. Once I got inside, I refused to get back out. It is currently 33 degrees F outside. The high for the day is only 37 degrees F. I have only been in Houston for a little over a year so I am not sure about the weather history but I am sure that I am not the only one surprised to see snow in Houston. It seems like some kind of cruel joke.

Many people love this weather, others and hating it and a few are indifferent. I was walking next to a young lady at school, both of us with our umbrellas, and she turned to me and asked, "Is it snowing?" After I answered that it was, she replied "oh, I thought it was just raining!" I am not sure how she could have missed it. I personally have never seen white rain but maybe it do exist.

Because I have lived on the East coast, I have been through snow storms and know that this weather is not bad at all. Some have even claimed that this cannot be classified as snow. One of my friends would like it to snow more so that she can go outside and build a snow man with her daughter. I other friends wants to sneak out into the snow even though she is sick. I am just praying that it ends soon. I am really trying to figure out a way to not have to leave the house at all until it is back to being warm and beautiful outside.

What do you think about it snowing in Houston? If you live here, do you love it or hate it?
