"There's a bat in the house. There's a bat in the house." The pretty red haired lady was screaming. She was worried the bat would get into her beautiful auburn hair. Grandmother had told her bats would nest in your hair and never leave, eventually driving you crazy.
Frank the blue eyed cat heard the commotion and perked up his ears. Something in the house to hunt. Oh good, he thought. Frank chased the bat from room to room, running, leaping, almost flying after the bat. Once he knocked it out of the air but the bat was tough and he got back up.
The clarion of the red haired girl brought out the neighbors. "We will help you get the bat." The bleary eyed boozer at the back fence said. "I'll help you later."
When they went into the house the bat was hiding. Frank the cat said, "I batted him down, I thought he was dying." The neighbors went home and the red haired lady went into the house and put a towel around her hair. Prevention is the cure.
Later in the evening the auburn lady went into her closet to find a dress for dancing and there was the bat sleeping on her favorite flannel robe, hanging upside down as bats will do. She took the towel from her head, covered the bat and scooped him in. The bat said, "Squeak."
She let the bat loose out the back door. He flew away to feast on flies, mosquitoes and other tasty bugs. The bat thought, "That house was fun, the cat was fast, the robe was soft and the girl was gentle but it did lack bugs."
The boozer was still leaning on the fence. "That's exactly what I would've done."
