There's a New Ghost Costume for 2010

This Halloween, Look for Kids (and a Few Adults) Everywhere to Be Dressed like Ghost from Modern Warfare 2

Tom Norton
I'm calling it. The most popular Halloween costume for 2010 will be Ghost, from Modern Warfare 2. For those who don't know, Ghost is a Special Forces character made popular by the video game, Modern Warfare 2. Throughout the game, Ghost maintains his anonymity by hiding behind a pair of Oakley's and a ski mask that has a skeleton face painted on it. The mask is, well, pretty creepy despite its simplicity. It makes Ghost look like the Grim Reaper in soldier form, capable of sending a terrorist to Hell simply by pointing his finger at him.

I don't know for sure if the mask is available in stores yet, but I'm sure you'll begin to see it on their shelves during the months before Halloween. If not, you can probably make one yourself pretty easily and chances are, it will appear more authentic than the Ghost mask that Gamestop has reportedly sold in the past. Just grab a generic, dark gray ski mask that covers everything but your eyes, and paint a skeleton face on it with some pale yellow paint to make it look like the picture above. Complete the look with some head phones with the microphone attached and a pair of Oakley sunglasses and bam! You've got a Ghost costume.

Superheroes and popular TV show characters often make great costumes for kids and adults, but the growing popularity of online video games offers a new category of Halloween costumes that you can expect to see at parties and at your doorstep. The simplicity and affordability of Ghost's mask, the fact that it is actually pretty scary, and the fact that Modern Warfare 2 is so popular are all reasons that I am certain at I'll be seeing tons of kids and nerdy adults (like myself) dressed up as Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 this Halloween 2010.
