There's No Catch to Finding Fun and Easy Science Experiments
Easy Science Experiments for Young Scientists
So, let's start with finding an idea for super science fair projects, and then we'll move into the experiments. For example, if a teacher is developing her lesson plan for a middle school science class, and she wants to capture the attention of many students at once so she can get an idea of which ones will proceed to the science fair, she'll want to present a range of science topics, such as chemistry, earth science, computer science, or biology. She'll want to explore topics that will translate into projects that can be done in a classroom lab or in a home kitchen or backyard.
For the topic of biology, a simple idea that incorporates fun and easy science fair projects is to research plants. One way is to make the color of a white flower change to pink or green. Another is to challenge the kids to find out how greenhouses help plants grown. In this simple earth science project, they can build a model of a greenhouse and choose their own plants to grow inside. Another project that requires a really cool experiment is to build a mold terrarium, and the kids can watch a different type of plant grow on old food.
It's always a good idea for parents, teachers and kids if the experiments of a science project require only a few supplies, especially if the project is being conducted by elementary school children. Projects that fit this parameter are ones that can be done with materials found in most kitchen cabinets. For example: creating a goop with cornstarch and water, and then experimenting and documenting whether it is actually a liquid or a solid. The kids will have tons of fun playing around with this mess while they learn about chemistry.
What about those parents whose kids just love to sit and play video games? There's a lot of them today. They parent can pull them away from the computer by helping them make their own animation devices to learn how it was done before computers. Or they can allow the kids to play a variety of cool computer games and then conduct a consumer comparison to determine if the games live up to the advertisements.
No matter what topic is finally decided upon, fun and easy science experiments can be found to interest all ages. A little research on the Internet, or at the library will go a long way to making the project as simple as possible. Remember, the more fun the kids have the easier it is for the adults, and that's what I'm talking about.
