There's No Slaying the Dragons of Good Taste: A Review of Sir William's Extra Special Bitter from Dragonmead Microbrewery
Dragonmead Microbrewery
Warren, Michigan
Let me make my preamble while the suds dissipate: This world is kind of a hooker horrible place sometimes isn't it? No really...it's a fiefdom of rot and depravity with a little humanity churned in on the occasion of unfortunate or fortuitous happenstances. I suppose that it doesn't help that I watch too many shows about death, murder and paranormal stupefaction and invite these ill feelings in. Bah! I'll see my clone daughter who has the same happily morose disposition this weekend and all will be right with this dog-eyed world.
In the meantime I'm going to attempt to drink a beer. Though it got a bit roiled in its vessel during transport and is acting up, I will drink and review it because the world NEEDS beer reviews. Either way it serves me right for driving it around in the trunk of the car. Perhaps it's me who belongs in a tightly enclosed space with this attitude plaguing me!
So, now that I've tamed this fluffer I must say that it's quite grand. It reminds me of an Arbor Brewing selection which I can't quite place while in my frazzled state. Well, it was the one that also exploded all over the foundation of my beer life and left me wanting more and more while licking my Cheshire chopstick lips.
What's in it: caramel, butter a la mode, pepper, feasty beasty yeasties, a shred of hops, castle parlance and one dragon hair which beguines its way down into the depths of your 90th floor. Yes, it's a Cole Porter reference via Michael Strange, the guy with perhaps the coolest record cover of all time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O0rAphbYjk).
