Was there such a thing as an ashes to ashes love,
when you were content to dismantle the iron wheel?
You didn't have to run after the department store merchandise glove--
your picnic protest assemblies had made you the queen of surreal.

And in the bus station celebrity magazine pick up spot,
I was so sad to eat my blueberry pie alone.
Friends are just like compassionate angels
that let your Saturday night movie time answers be shone.

Still, there's a side of me that just wants to be happy,
and that wants others to be happy as well.
