Italy offers rejuvenating effects through the thermal waters of its thermal spas. The Italian spa experience includes fabulous beauty treatments, luxuriating massages, relaxing leisure activities, and eclectic world-class menus, as well as local cuisine.

Dormant volcanoes are responsible for the emergence of the thermal spas of Italy. In fact, spas are scattered throughout much of Italy creating a veritable treasure chest of thermal jewels. One of the many benefits of this widespread location for the spas is a variety in setting and fine cuisine.

Although many famous Italian spas exist, some are more popular than others. Considered as one of the most ancient of the Italian spas, Abano Terme, has an excellent location near the major airlines of Verona, Venice, and Treviso. This particular Italian spa has at least 130 thermal springs that offer exhilarating effects.

Abano Terme is located in a small town, but offers deluxe and standard accommodations to its guests through various hotels. Additionally, the spa provides a unique setting that includes tennis courts, walking trails, and golf courses. Abano Terme offers both indoor and outdoor thermal pools overseen by professional staff members. International, as well as Italian, cuisine is offered in the many restaurants, bars, and lounges strategically located on the spa grounds.

Montegrotto Terme, another of the more famous Italian spas, is located in a panoramic setting that offers verdant kills and welcoming parks. The Euganian hill area is home to this particular spa. While the inside is arranged to provide every amenity, the outside has been blessed with a beauty that only Mother Nature can provide. Montegrotto Terme also offers a distinctive line of hotels that feature both deluxe and standard accommodations.

Tourists can enjoy a taste of adventure as they take a look into the past when they visit ancient ruins that date back to the time of Julius Caesar. Thermal amenities include indoor and outdoor thermal pools, special treatments, in-house doctors, and professionally trained staff whose main goal is the comfort of the clientele. In a manner similar to Abano Terme, Montegrotto Terme provides relaxation for its guests with a variety of features including golf courses, walking trails, tennis courts, lounges, bars, and restaurants.

Another of the thermal spas of Italy is Bagni di Tivoli, located close to Rome in the Lazio region. This thermal spa location offers several natural hot springs. Acqui Terme, located along the wine trails of the Piemonte region, is another of the thermal spa locations. It features a hot sulfuric spring credited with restorative properties due to the sulfuric composition of its waters. The mud baths and mineral treatments at Acqui Terme draw tourists annually.

The Tuscany Spas are so well-known for their restorative thermal spas that they almost don't need introduction. The focal points of these Italian spas happen to center around water therapies, beauty and diet treatments, relaxation, luxuriating massages, and standard and deluxe accommodations.

Bagno Vignoni is located in the Tuscany region and dates back to the ancient times of the Romans. Its hot thermal springs offer restorative powers through a wide range of treatments including mud baths, reflexology treatments, relaxing massages, water therapies, and beauty treatments. Although the original rectangular pool of thermal waters is no longer used, it provides a quaint and unique setting.

Chianciano Terme is reputed to have been visited by Horace, the poet, and is well-known for its rejuvenating effects. Its curative waters are set close to Siena. Terme di Montepulciano, located in the hilltop town of Montepulciano, offers rich sulfur waters with the reputation for curative powers. It also offers some of the best wine in Italy.

Montecatini Terme located at the foot of the Pistoian Mountains features nine different spas and baths spread throughout the town. This particular spa has had its own entourage of famous visitors including Princess Grace, Orson Welles, and Clark Gable. Today's treatments include a variety of invigorating massages, thermal water therapies, beauty treatments, and mineral water therapies.

Terme San Filippo, characterized by the white rock deposits and located near Monte Amiata, includes water therapies, mud baths, and inhalation treatments. Terme di Saturnia, an elaborate complex of four outdoor thermal pools also includes a fitness center, art gallery, hair salon, tennis courts, and golf range. Named after the Etruscan goddess Saturnia and surrounded by beautiful countryside, the spa has three separate facilities. Like most Italian spas, Saturnia offers water therapies, diet plans, fitness regimens, stress therapies, and beauty treatments.
