The shampoo and conditioner I chose to help retain my color was from the ThermaSilk line of hair products. This review is on the conditioner I chose, ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner.
When I walked into Eckerd, I loved my hair color. I just had it done at Vivian's Hollywood Hair Salon in Shirley. I paid a pretty penny for it, and I was determined to keep the color as long as I possibly could, without having to get touch-ups or anything to that effect. I paced up and down the hair care aisle, searching for the perfect product.
The purple and maroon bottles of ThermaSilk caught my eye. I used the mousse at one point, and was thrilled with the effect it had on my hair. No other products really appealed to me. So, I shelled out the $5.99 (each) for the ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner, and headed home.
The next night, I used my hair care purchases. Since this review is about the ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner, I will keep my review strictly to that product. Don't worry-- I'll have a review about the ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Shampoo up eventually.
First and foremost, the texture of the conditioner is wonderful. It's thick and creamy-- exactly how a conditioner should feel. It almost looks like a body cream. The conditioner isn't runny. Once you squeeze a dollup into your hand, it's not going anywhere unless you run it under water or wipe it away. What I like to do is smear the conditioner between my hands and run it through my hair. That way, I apply it to every strand evenly.
These are the directions on the bottle of ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner:
After shampooing, massage conditioner through hair and rinse thoroughly after 1 to 3 minutes. For great heat styling results, also try ThermaSIlk Color Revitalizing Shampoo and Styling Products.
I found that I get better results when I leave the conditioner in my hair longer. Rinsing under cool water is also very good for your scalp and hair follicles. Combined with the heat-activated conditioning elements, your hair looks and feels amazing with ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner.
Secondly, the scent of this conditioner is heavenly. I love using it, as it makes my hair - and my shower - smell absolutely wonderful. It is a white floral scent, with hints of gardenia and lily. I can't tell you exactly the scent tones, as Helene Curtis doesn't print it anywhere on the bottle. The scent also stays in your hair for the entire day. I love it.
Third, ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner really lives up to its claims. This is what it claims to do:
1. The ThermaSilk unique Silk Protein formula is heat-activated to help lock in moisture while heat styling.
* Yup. It does this. I blowdry my hair every day... or, at least when I wash it. I usually find my hair to be very dry and brittle after I dry it, so I use something like Silk by John Freida to make it look and feel smoother. With ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner, I don't need the extra product to maintain smoothness and moisture.
2. Dual action color protection helps keep color vibrant and beautiful.
* When I first started this review, I was going to complain about ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner. Even though I had been using it for 2 months, I didn't really see a difference in my hair. I ran out, and switched back to my old conditioner. All of a sudden, my color faded. Now my roots are really showing. My conclusion? ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner really does protect and keep my color. I am sorry that I ever through differently. I need to get my hair done again, since my roots are showing. You can bet that I'm going to buy this conditioner again.
3. Deeply moisturizes color-treated hair to improve its condition while heat styling.
* Absolutely. I definitely noticed less split ends when using this conditioner, compared to any other conditioner that I have used. The $5.99 price is so worth it, just because my hair is so healthy now.
4. Makes hair resilient, shiny and manageable.
* I hate styling my hair. Wait a sec-- make that past tense. I hated styling my hair... until I started using ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner. Now, styling my hair is easy and fun. My hair is so completely manageable, and it looks terrific. Furthermore, it feels terrific.
Ingredients
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetrimonium Chloride, Silk Protein, Silk Amino Acids, Phytantriol, Dimethiconol, Quaternium-18, Fragrance, Octyl Methoxycinnaruate, Potassium Chloride, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, TES-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Citric Acid, Vitamin E Acetate, Vitamin C, Benzophenone-4, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone
Okay, so it's not natural. The only ingredients I recognize are water and Vitamin C. I'm one of those people, however, that doesn't care what is put in a product-- as long as it makes me look good and isn't tested on animals, I'm happy.
In conclusion, I am very happy with ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner. This is now the only conditioner that I will use on my hair. I am going to try to go back to my "natural color" this week, by matching the rest of my hair to my roots. I have full faith the ThermaSilk Color Revitalizing Conditioner will help me keep my color - and my hair - looking beautiful.
