These Books Need to Be Movies!

Make "Oprah," "The Politician" and "The Audacity of Hope" into Feature Films!

Writers, directors, and producers are always looking for that next big project. Fresh new film ideas are few and far between. Hollywood often gets ideas for motion pictures from literature. Below are 3 cutting edge proposals for books that should be turned into movies.

The Audacity of Hope

"The Audacity of Hope" would be the perfect movie. Barack Obama's inspiring book is a story that needs to be told. America's first black president has already stated that he would like to see Will smith play him in a movie. I happen to agree. Smith has already showed his dramatic acting abilities in films like Ali, another biopic. Will Smith's former co-star, Gabrielle Union would make the perfect first lady. She's statuesque, beautiful and intelligent. The plot should include everything from his childhood, to the many experiences in the Illinois and national legislatures. Spike Lee would be an excellent director for this piece. This movie should be the hip biopic. Barack Obama is not your typical politician, so this film should not be your typical film about a president.

The Politician

Andrew Young's scandalous tell-all "The Politician", would also make a fantastic political movie. Young depicts former presidential hopeful, John Edwards, in the worst light possible. The pay-offs, affairs, and possible sex tapes alone are the things that Hollywood dramas are made of. Tom Cruise would be the perfect John Edwards. He's pretty enough, and he could certainly use the career boost. I'd love to see Reese Witherspoon portray Edward's mistress Rielle Hunter. Reese's southern charm would make her perfect for the role. Steamy scenes between Cruise and Witherspoon would be amazing. Elizabeth Edwards would be the most difficult to cast. When all else fails, pick Meryl Streep. She can transform herself into anybody! Meryl is the perfect actress to play Elizabeth. The Audience would be sympathetic to her breast cancer, and thoroughly entertained by Streep's portrayal of her attitude. George Clooney would be the perfect director. He is new this aspect of show business, but has already delivered fresh, interesting films.

Oprah

Oprah is one of America's most fascinating characters. People feel like they know her. According to Kitty Kelly's book, " Oprah", there is a lot more that needs to be told. I would cast Angela Bassett as Oprah Winfrey. Bassett has already done a terrific job of portraying phenomenal black women like Rosa Parks and Tina Turner. Angela could really capture the struggle and chaos that Kelly writes about in her book. Morgan Freeman could play Oprah's father. Winfrey's former co-star, Danny Glover could play Stedman. A director for this film will be hard to find though. It isn't easy to find someone who is willing to cross the Big "O"!
