These Boots Are Made for Fashion

Uggs Are Not the Only Winter Weather Foot Option

Emily Portoghese
It is a common belief that once autumn hits, especially in New York, you must bundle yourself up in roomy sweaters and pants in drab colors. However, recently, fall and winter outfits can be warm and cozy, as well as fashionable thanks to heavier materials and a carefully placed scarf.

Although it is not my personal style preference, more and more people (mostly young women) have been spotted wearing miniskirts in the dead of winter. "How can they not be freezing?" you wonder. It is Uggs. Wearing Uggs, which are cushy-lined boots from Australia, is basically like putting your feet in a toaster; they are warm, comfy and most importantly, they are "in."

Uggs are not the only way to keep your feet toasty though, boots of any kind are warmer than regular shoes or sneakers, especially knee-high ones, and boots in general are a major fashion trend right now. It is possible to wear a skimpier shirt or skirt than you are used to is you make sure to dress and class up our outfit with a great pair of boots.

Leather and suede ones seem to be at their heigh of popularity right now; with the always-in-style black, brown and tan being the most seen. Yet, boots of other colors have been prominent, such as gray flat "riding" boots, purple slouched leather ones and navy suede.

If you plan on showcasing your boots instead of hiding them under your pant leg, it is important to invest in a good pair. After all, boots are definitely more of a statement due to the fact that other shoes do not cover your leg up to the knee-cap, or higher if you are daring.

In light of the larger amount of fabric and shoe visible to the public, quality materials are the way to go with this purchase. Buttery leathers and soft suede suit the cold weather and you can often find spray protection for your boots at any shoe store this way your investment does not become ruined in inclement weather.
