But Firefox's greatness isn't all due to the default features the developers included. Much of Firefox's superiority comes from its add-ons platform.
Many developers have created add-ons for Firefox that allow you to use your browser in ways you've probably never thought of. Here is a round-up of some of my favorite add-ons for Firefox.
Viamatic FoXpose- Love OS X's Expose feature? This add-on for Firefox brings a similar functionality to your browser. It isn't as pretty as Expose, obviously, but it is very useful when you have many tabs open at once and need to quickly navigate them. Press F8 or click the icon in the left-hand corner and FoXpose will pop up showing you all of your tabs at once.
Google Browser Sync - Google Browser Sync automatically syncs your bookmarks, persistent cookies, saved passwords, history, and windows and tabs so that you can access that information on any computer you use - I have mine set up on my office computer, my notebook, and my desktop. You can optionally disable syncing any part that you don't feel comfortable with and you can enable or disable encryption.
WebmailCompose- Use a webmail client? This will open all those email links you click while browsing in your webmail client, such as Gmail. This is a must-have.
BugMeNot- BugMeNot helps you bypass compulsory web registration. Simply right click once you have the extension installed and select "Login with BugMeNot" in a user name box for a free website. You'll be logged in using generic credentials so you don't have to share your personal information or risk getting spammed.
ForecastFox - Get the weather displayed right in your browser! A fantastic plug-in.
FoxyTunes - FoxyTunes is a music player that fully integrates into Firefox. It is compatible with a wide variety of music players including Apple's popular iTunes. Plus, FoxyTunes now works with Internet Explorer.
These are some excellent add-ons, but I'm sure there are more I've yet to discover. Many popular web services such as del.icio.us are creating Firefox add-ons now.
