Iron Man
Directed by Jon Favreau
Written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway
Based on the popular Marvel comic, Iron Man is about Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.), a brilliant inventor who gets taken captive by terrorists and severely injured in the process. The terrorists try to force Tony to create a terrible weapon. Instead, Tony or Anthony decides to create an armored suit to keep his injury from killing him. This leads him to overthrow his kidnappers and become the superhero he's destined to be. From a few heavy and clunky pieces of metal to a sleek, well-designed suit of armor, Robert Downey's Tony Stark will no doubt put his own stamp in the roster of superhero movies. The question whether or not the filmmakers know how to put this great hero on film won't be answered until May 2nd.

Made of Honor
Directed by Paul Weiland
Written by Adam Sztykiel and Deborah Kaplan
Tom (Patrick Dempsey) and Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) have been platonic friends for 10 years. He's what you might call a serial dater. She is looking to get married to Mr. Right. Just as Tom is starting to think seriously about getting serious with a woman, Hannah gets engaged. Then she asks Tom to be her maid of honor. He agrees if only just to stop the wedding and sweep Hannah off her feet. I haven't seen any previews of this charming comedy, but it certainly sounds like something to check out. If Dempsey can do as well in Made of Honor as he does in Grey's Anatomy, we're probably in for a treat.

Redbelt
Directed by David Mamet
Written by David Mamet
From the brilliant mind behind The Untouchables with Kevin Costner and Sean Connery comes this unique film about a top mixed-martial arts instructor, Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The man is asked to compete in prize fights all the time, but he has never taken up the offer. Then, something happens, forcing Mike to reconsider his choice. Given how brilliant the screenplays of The Untouchables and Heist with Gene Hackman were, I have little doubt that David Mamet can put this screen without making it look too much like another Jean Claude Van Damme kick-fighting movie.
