If I'm ever to be free
See my mind and body free
These shackles tie me to the ground
And that's the least, but please don't frown
They keep me from the sun for one
Warm touch, and summer fun
Hard to fathom the crazy size
We all awaken to its rise
When these shackles come undone
In distant visits from the sun
I wish to see and hear and do
I wish to paint the city blue
This whole life I've lived in vain
And fell in holes and back again
There is no ending to this climb
And there's not always a rescue line
So try real hard and don't give up
You keep it up and sure enough
Something falls into your lap
And that's no laugh, I'll give you that
