TheWB.com's Pushed Series Review

Dinah Laurel
"Pushed" is a sexy new series from WB that is available exclusively online. This show is definitely a guilty pleasure and should appeal to soap opera fans who enjoy conniving characters and buff, shirtless men. Each episode, or "Webisode," is approximately three minutes long, so this is a fun way to kill some time at the office when the boss isn't looking.

The plot of "Pushed" is typical of this type of program. There is a lot of sex, betrayal and insane plot twists. The protagonist, London, is the good girl and she must contend with a cast of duplicitous characters. She is young, rich and in love, but that doesn't stop her life from spiraling out of control. From her scheming and promiscuous sister to her meddling therapist, it is hard to figure out just who London can trust. There are many freeloaders in London's life who you will love to hate.

The first season of "Pushed" featured 25 episodes and I guarantee the third one will hook you. Granted, it won't take you long to watch the entire run, so it isn't a huge gamble if you're not sure about it. WB has been promoting many online exclusives, yet I haven't seen any substantial promotion for "Pushed." It's a shame, as this is one of the better online series I've watched from the network. The cast is charismatic and the storyline is outrageous enough to keep you on the line.

While there aren't any major stars in "Pushed," you will recognize Catherine Hicks as London's therapist, Dr. Rosen. Hicks played Annie Camden in "Seventh Heaven," although I will always know her as the mom from "Child's Play." Hicks brings some validity to the series, as she's a seasoned actress. Other stars include young actors with a soap opera pedigree. Veronica Taylor, who plays London, was once on "The Bold and the Beautiful." Meanwhile, Scott Seymour from "The Young and the Restless" plays the resident bad boy.

This series is hardly high art, so don't expect dialogue on par with "Mad Men" or action that contends with "24." Instead, you will indulge in a naughty world where people constantly backstab, jump in bed with each other and have names like Zip. What I like about online series like this one is the immediacy of everything. You can watch a quick, yet complete, story in just a few minutes. If you are a fan or soap operas or romance novels, then "Pushed" should entertain you.
