They Said I Broke In

YaoTzu
My heart,
dried and cracked like weathered mosaics,
as I return to my last heart beat.
With eyes turned I pop open the lock on my sacred falls.
Expecting her bed, I fall flat onto hard wood floors.
Bruised and breathless it's not the ground I hit the hardest as
my eyes wander a room once yellow and vibrant with my poems scattered on her sheets and floor.
Now I stare only into four corners painted over by sterile white shades of paint.
Psychologically paralyzed I fall limp where her bed once stood.
Remembering nights I lied about work just to lye by her side.
Intimate yet non-sexual
Romantic yet not expensive
Infinite yet gone
Amber skies place shadows on the walls
As the darkness mimics her embrace.
But pleasures of the past become pains of the present.
Images of happiness becomes my nightmares,
as uplifting fears ushers me out the front door and into the moonlit night.
I kick over the for sale sign taped over by the words sold.
As one last reminisce, I take a seat at the curb and get greeted by police,
They said I broke in
I say I was already broken
