Thin Line

Mary  E. Coe
Thin Line

I cried so many nights
alone and afraid,
So weary - so restless
gone out of my head,
I long for the strong arms
that used to hold me tight,
They were here yesterday
But, where are they tonight?

It's a thin line
from love to loneliness,
Each of us must walk
in search of happiness,
Today it may rain,
Tomorrow it may shine,
When you walk the thin line;

Life seems so long
when love's so far away,
When I remember the joy
you brought me yesterday,
Too many tears have come
from these eyes,
Now it's time to bid
all the pain goodbye;

It's a thin line
from love to loneliness,
Each of us must walk
in search of happiness,
Today it may rain,
Tomorrow it may shine,
When you walk the thin line;

It's time to rise up
and greet the day once more,
Put some faith in the new love
Waiting outside your door;

It's a thin line
from love to loneliness,
Each of us must walk
in search of happiness,
Today it may rain,
Tomorrow it may shine,
When you walk the thin line;

    Or, "what becomes of the broken-hearted". Some never recover once crossed that thin line.
