Going through a divorce is probably one of the toughest things you will ever have to go through, especially if you still love the person or if you really don't want the divorce. Even if it is you that wants the divorce, it will still be a hard thing to go through. Majority of the people that go through a divorce is not thinking clearly during the divorce and may not know what to ask the lawyer or tell the lawyer. Well, let me help you out. In this guide, I will list some of the things you need to ask your divorce lawyer. So, if you need help, keep reading. First let me say, that I'm sorry you are going through a divorce rather it's something you want or not. I know how hard a divorce can be. With that said, let's start with the questions you need to ask.
Fees
The first thing you will want to ask is how much the lawyer will charge. So, ask them about their fees. Before hiring a divorce lawyer, you will need to make sure you can afford the lawyer. Ask him what the fees will cover. You will need to be specific.
How the Judge Will Rule
Ask the divorce lawyer how he feels the judge will rule in your case. If the lawyer has experience, they can pretty much look at your case and tell you how the judge will more than likely rule. Knowing this will help prepare you better for the divorce ruling.
Other Services
Ask the lawyer what other services they offer and how much they are. Some lawyers will tack on other services, charge you for them and you will be taken by surprise. So, make sure you ask this question because the last thing you want is surprises when it comes to paying for a divorce.
Divorce Experience
And lastly, ask the lawyer about their past experiences with divorces. Find out how many cases they have won and if they are successful most of the time. If they haven't won many cases, you might want to make your way to another lawyer that has more experience and has won more cases. The one thing you don't want is a sorry lawyer and believe me, there are some of those out there. I'm not quite sure how they got their license, much less keep them. So, this is a must when hiring a lawyer.
I am sure you will have questions of your own to ask, but make sure you include the above questions. Also, get yourself a notepad and jot down all the questions you want to ask the lawyer because when you get face to face with the lawyer, your mind may go blank and you won't be able to think of anything to ask.
