Things to Avoid at the Gym

Roger C.
Most people that start going to the gym don't last long. Several studies show that two thirds of the people that start to go to the gym leave it three months later. Sometimes this happens because the new members start with aspirations that are way too high and become disappointed by the lack of progress. In order to avoid this, you should keep track of your workout and lift more weight every week. You can do it by making the same number of repetitions with a heavier weight, or you can use the same weight making more repetitions. The choice is up to you.

Trying to lift too much too often must be avoided. Many men try to increase the weight too quickly; this prevents your muscles to adapt to the new weight and slows down the growth process. Instead what you must do is to increase the load constantly but at small increments. This way you'll be gaining muscle growth and strength faster.

Having too many distractions during your workout could be prejudicial. Long resting periods might ruin your routine because your body needs to keep a high heart rate for a long time in order to burn calories. To make sure you make the most of your workout, rest for one minute after each set and keep going. This will help you keep a high heart rate and increase muscle growth.

Don't eat your breakfast before your exercise. This will make you feel heavy and could give you cramps. It is recommended to wait four hours after a heavy meal, or two hours after a shake or at least 45 minutes after a fruit. You'll feel better.

After you drop your extra weight, do not fall into temptation and return to your old habits, because gaining back the weight you loss is way easier that drop it. After losing 10 pounds give yourself a brief break in your diet and exercise program. Then you can go back with even more energy and determination to get rid of a little extra. It is better to have a constant long-term improvement than a big improvement in the short-term but an even bigger bounce back.

Sometimes you see in the gym that buff and strong guy that you want to look like. But don't try to do the same he's doing because it might not work for you and you could even get injured. Instead try to get a routine that accommodates to your necessities and fitness level. A personal trainer will be a great aid with this.
