Baking soda is a chemical salt that is in the form of a powdery substance, commonly used in baking to help the dough rise. Just like Hydrogen Peroxide, this substance is incredibly versatile. Most likely, every household on this earth has baking soda stocked up in their cabinet untouched, but after knowing what else this great chemical salt can do, you'll be sure to bring it out in no time. So, let's take a look at some of the things you can do with the baking soda you have in your home.

Baking soda can be used to eliminate odor. Leaving the powder in a bowl and placing it in the refrigerator helps absorb the stench leaving it odorless. This also helps in removing excess moisture that sometimes occurs in our refrigerator. As for deodorizing your shoes, boots, slippers and the carpet, sprinkle some baking soda on them or inside them and leave it for a while. Using a vacuum to clean up sprinkled baking soda on your carpet also helps deodorizing the inside of your vacuum.

Another use of baking soda is an all around cleaner. By adding a tiny amount of water into your baking soda, creates a paste that could be useful when cleaning and brushing walls with crayon marks, or grease stains on shirts. Also, simply sprinkling a layer of the powder on oily, stained, or smelly areas and wiping off with a damp sponge will help solve these problems. Baking soda added into your laundry load while washing will help brighten up your clothing and remove odors as well. This substance can also be reused. Left over baking soda from deodorizing can either be poured down the drain which clears your drainage or can be stocked up in the garage which can be used to put out tiny fires.

Aside from completing chores task with baking soda, this can also be of personal use. Adding baking soda into your bath will facilitate soft skin and relieve your baby from diaper rash.

To make everything even simpler, baking soda can be used all around the house for several reasons, from relieving an area from excess moisture, deodorizing your house, to cleaning all sorts of things. For these reasons baking soda definitely is a chemical substance that is often underestimated and having it around the house can be practical and very useful.
