What are the new uses for those old hoses? There are several that I can think of and I am sure that you can add more to this list. To begin with a busted hose can be used in the yard or garden to protect a young tree from the ropes that are supporting it. To do this you can either wrap the hose around the tree by slitting the hose along one side then slip the hose onto the trunk of the tree or you can put the hose on the rope and then place the whole thing around the tree.
Another use in the garden for an old busted hose is to scare off birds and other animals by making it look like a snake laying on the ground. You can paint splotches of color on the hose so it looks more like a snake then simply either coil it up or let it stay stretched out on the ground.
A bucket handle can be made more comfortable by adding a piece of garden hose to the wire handle. All you have to do is measure the handle area of the bucket or decide how long you need to leave the hose, then cut the hose to that length. Now slice one side of the cut off hose and slip it over the wire part of the bucket handle.
Have you ever had to try to get water the right temperature from an old water faucet. You know, the ones that have separate faucets for the hot and cold water? Did you know that a piece of garden hose can fix this problem? All you have to do is measure the distance from one spout to the other then cut the hose this length. Now make a v shape with the hose and cut a hole in the middle of the v. When you turn both the faucets the hot and cold water will combine and come out the hole in the garden hose.
These are just a few of the uses for a bust garden hose. There are many more that I have not thought of or do not know about yet. But, these are surely enough to get started on reasons not to throw away that garden hose that you are trying to decide what to do with.
