Things that Cause Kidney Stones

If you have ever had kidney stones then you know it is a very uncomfortable feeling. You can experience a terrible pain in your back just below your rib cage. Every so often you will feel that sharp penetrating feeling from the pain. Kidney stones can also make you feel like you want to vomit along with feeling sick to the stomach. Other symptoms include those that resemble the flu such as chills as well as a fever. When you have kidney stones you feel as though you always want to go to the restroom. Your urine can appear to be hazy or fuzzy as well as filled with blood. Those are some of the symptoms of kidney stones but there are a number of things that can cause kidney stones.

In this country there has been a significant increase in the number of people who have kidney stones dating back to 1970 up to 2000. African-American men do not receive kidney stones as much as Caucasian men. Kidney stones can form in a number of people. The age does not matter buy you will see an increase when men are older than 40.

Family history

If kidney stones have a tendency to run in your family then your chances of receiving kidney stones increases.

Lack of Water

If you are not accustomed to drinking a lot of water then you increase your chances of receiving kidney stones. Water is so important when it comes to maintaining our health. Every bit of our body needs water to function adequately therefore it is important that you receive enough water on a daily basis. Health and nutrition experts have been talking about the benefits of water for years. Sometimes it takes a break down in our health for someone to truly understand how important water consumption truly is.

One kidney

If you only have one kidney for some reason this increases your chance of receiving kidney stones.

Vitamin D
While vitamin D is important for our health if you consume too much vitamin D it can lead to the formation of kidney stones.

Other things that can contribute to kidney stones are urinary tract infections. Also if you absorb high amounts of calcium from your food and it becomes dispelled into your urine. Sometimes a kidney stone can be passed from the body if you drink enough water on a daily basis. You may have to drink up to 3 quarts of water per day.
