Things My Daughter Has Done Since Turning Two

Which was Only Two Months Ago!

My two year old daughter is a blessing, but she keeps me on my toes. She is very active, imaginative, and curious. Did I mention that she is mischievous too!

Things My Daughter Has Done Since Turning Two

Moved to a toddler bed. She just learned to climb out of her crib and we wanted her to be safe. We should have kept her in the crib longer.

Pooped during nap time and then played in it. This has actually happened twice. I can tell you that you will probably need a fingernail brush to get everything out from under the nails.

Has become nurturing to her baby dolls, stuffed animals, and even her brother's Roboraptor. It is quite a site to see her kissing and hugging the scary dinosaur.

Spent eight days away from us while we were out of the country. She did amazingly well and I am reminded that having an independent child is positive in situations like this.

Spread After Bite for Kids all over her arms and legs. This resulted in a call to the Poison Control Hot line. All was well and there was no permanent damage.

Has become quite a comedian. It is so cute when she laughs at funny things especially things that she has done.

Had two ear infections. One of which I didn't know she had until her two-year-old physical exam. We were all quite surprised when she failed the hearing test due to the fact that she had a double ear infection. That girl has a high tolerance for pain which should come in handy one day during childbirth.

Disappeared for several minutes inside the house. Well, actually she was in the garage and had climbed into the exersaucer she had used when she was younger. She actually did this twice and then we put a lock up high on the door going into the garage.

Broke the lock on the door going into the garage. We have been meaning to fix it and install a dead bolt instead that she hopefully can't break through.

Learned to dance and twirl around. This is why having a girl is so fun! Can we say dance lessons soon.

Learned to say poop, toot, and booty from her older brother. It just doesn't sound right for a cute little princess to say those words. As for her brother, he will pay the price if she ever says those in public.

Has become a picky eater. You mean she can't live on PB&J sandwiches, cheese quesadillas, yogurt, chips, strawberries, and candy? She does eat other things, but not too much and not too often.

Learned to be quite aggressive in defending her toys and other belongings. I don't blame her since her brother tends to agitate her on purpose. She sure can hold her own.

Developed some unique bedtime stalling techniques. Honestly, I'm not sure where she picked up some of these ideas. Now we have to do big hugs, little hugs, tiny hugs, etc.

Gave up Elmo for Dora. Looks like all things Elmo will gone and Santa will be bringing Dora for Christmas.

Has become quite interested in shoes. She loves going to the store and trying them on. The problem is leaving without buying any. I have a pair right now in my room that I need to return because she can barely walk in them.

Learned to make a yummy strawberry cake in her play kitchen. This brings back memories of making "soup" in the backyard with grass, dirt, water, mud, and worms and then asking my Mom to taste it.

Learned to climb to the top of the slide by herself. In fact, she can do everything by herself.

Learned to count to ten with help, call all letters or words she sees ABC's, and can identify some colors and shapes. It is so neat to see her little mind stretching and growing.

Developed a love for puzzles. I think I have done some of her puzzles a dozen times and can't wait until the next time she says, "Mommy play puzzles with me?"

Had a growth spurt. She has outgrown most of her summer clothes and has already needed new shoes. Didn't I just buy her shoes? Good thing a new season is coming soon.

Learned to open the refrigerator and help herself. This will come in handy as soon as she is old enough to cook.

Has become demanding and bossy. She is learning that she is in charge of her toys and bed, bun not Mommy & Daddy. Apparently I was bossy when I was little too so she must take after me.

Learned to say "I love you much" all on her own without me saying it first. This touches my heart and makes all of the challenges seem so insignificant - well almost!

Author's note: Motherhood can be very challenging, but I'm ready for the next two months. I know there will be challenges, but also very rewarding times.

My daughter also just turned two not long ago, and boy oh boy! She's changed SO much. It's amazing isn't it? She calls and words ABC's too, I've never heard a kid do that before, it's definitely cute though!
