Things to Do During the Super Bowl If You Hate Football

Don't Dread Super Bowl Sunday! Find Ways to Enjoy the Day, Even If You Hate Football

Ideas for When You Can't Avoid Watching the Super Bowl

Even if you hate football, you might find yourself unable to avoid watching the Super Bowl for whatever reason. Perhaps your spouse or kids have invited friends over to watch the game. Perhaps you've committed to go to a friend's house, or a Super Bowl party to watch the game. If that's the case, these ideas can help.

Entertaining Friends and Family

Entertaining others is a great way to deal with your own dislike of football. It allows your loved-ones who enjoy football to relax and enjoy the game. This will no doubt give you some satisfaction and also keep you from getting bored while the game is in progress. If you've got friends and / or family coming over to watch the Super Bowl, you'll keep yourself plenty busy playing host(ess,) and you'll have no shortage of things to do.

If you find yourself in this situation, my best advice would be to make a checklist of all the things you need to do to get ready before the game. Then post it in a visible spot - like the fridge - where you can check it to make sure you don't forget anything.

During the game itself, you probably won't have time to worry about how much you hate football because you'll be busy serving drinks, socializing and keeping all the munchies refilled. The commercials should be interesting enough, even if the game itself doesn't interest you. If you do get bored, you can always tidy up the kitchen. When you're the host(ess) of the party, no one will think it's odd if you disappear into the kitchen at any point during the game. If you decide to stay there, the odds are good that no one will even notice!

Attending Super Bowl Parties

If you're going to be a guest at someone else's Super Bowl party, my best advice would be to take a portable craft project along with you. That way, if you get bored enough with the game that you find your eyes glazing over, you can pull it out and get to work. Knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch all work well for this.

Skipping the Super Bowl Entirely

If you aren't already committed to watching the game, it can be your golden opportunity to have some quality time alone for doing whatever you enjoy most!

Surely someone you know is having a Super Bowl party. If possible, send your football-loving family members over to friends' houses. If you can manage that, you'll be able to free up some time to get things done. Imagine the possibilities!

Go Shopping

The mall is almost guaranteed to be empty, or nearly so, on Super Bowl Sunday. You're likely to find a great parking spot. The fitting rooms won't be crowded. You won't have to stand in long lines.

Don't, however, go grocery shopping. The grocery store isn't as safe a bet, as there are likely to be people in line buying snacks and drinks for consumption during the game. I'd advise avoiding the supermarket on the day of the Super Bowl if you possibly can.

Internet Shopping: Ebay

Internet shopping can be productive. In years past, one of my favorite Super Bowl Sunday activities was sniping auctions on ebay. Ebay auctions tend to get the most bidding activity on the last few hours of the auction. So, you might score some ebay bargains if you shop during the Super Bowl.

Pamper Yourself

This would be a great time to take a bubble bath, go to a day spa, get your hair cut, or get your nails done.

Exercise

If you're one of those people who never has time for going to the gym, going for a jog or even just doing some sit-ups, Super Bowl Sunday would be a great time to do any of those things.

Review Your Life Goals, or Make Some

Life is short. It's hectic. Sometimes it seems like there's never enough time to accomplish your goals. In my opinion, any day you can manage to clear your calendar of distractions and obligations is a good day for reviewing goals and prioritizing. If you find yourself with "alone time" on Super Bowl Sunday, that's as good a time as any other for goal-setting, and for taking steps to achieve your goals, whatever they may be.

Enjoy!

However you decide to spend your Super Bowl Sunday, I hope it will be an enjoyable day!

I think most get drunk during football
just to be able to tackle the boredom, non-stop commercials, commentators,
and general bs plus the never-ending
    noise.

I hate it. I do my own thing. I don't martyr myself to please others who are
    watching the game.

Oh quit your whining about one day out of the year. Daily we are bombarded with feminine hygiene products, `Every kiss begins with K`, Melissa and Joan`s fashions and who wore it best, The Kardashians, The Talk, The View, Teen Mom, Dr Phil and the list goes on. Why can`t you whiners endure just one day out of the year, to at least tolerate the Super Bowl? Now time to watch the pre-Pre game.

I got the grand daughters for company, it's a great time to give them attention. The duck pond is looking pretty good, or maybe just reading and coloring. When money is short these are great bonding tools.

Choosing not to confine my comment to football alone, consider ALL professional sports in our society. These cats get paid 8 figures (each) in most cases! Compare this to the salaries of our educators, police, military, fireman, social workers and medical folks. WTF? Our nations priorities are skewed...or does it rhyme with skewed? It's scary how closely we resemble the Roman Empire just before....well, you get the point.

The idea is for me to not have to watch the super bowl in the first place, and I don't have family members who are fans. Even so, I would not support something I hate by being their kitchen slave. All malls within at least a 100 mile radius from me close after 6, and the movie theaters in this part of the country decided to close after 5pm specially for the day of the super bowl. Most of your suggestions require the services of business that will not be open because the super bowl has become more important than Christmas. The only reason I might want to review my life goals would be if my goals were to get drunk and fat on super bowl day.
