You can start any of these ideas by cutting off the tops of your mini pumpkins with a paring knife or pumpkin carving knife, then scooping out the seeds and strings with a spoon or scooper.
Wild Rice Stuffed Mini Pumpkins
There's a fantastic recipe available on the Whole Foods Market website here. You can find all these ingredients at your local market and it's a healthy little treat for you and your guests. This recipe is also quite the conversation starter since it's such a unique idea.
Mini Pumpkin Soup
There are a number of recipes out there for soup in mini pumpkins, but how about being able to use the whole pumpkin to make the soup itself as well as serve as the container? This recipe is an easy one to follow, and very tasty, too!
Candy Corn
Who doesn't love candy corn? Even if you don't care for the taste of this traditional fall candy, I'm sure you can at least appreciate it's visual effects. Candy corn comes in a great set of festive colors, and filling a gutted mini pumpkin with this candy creates a cute set of decorations and 'candy dishes' your guests are sure to love. They even make great little gifts for your guests to take away.
Flowers
After scooping out your mini pumpkins, why not fill them with some autumn wildflowers? You don't even need to go out to purchase any, you can probably just find some growing in your backyard or in a field (but don't pick from others' properties!). Cut the stems on your flowers really short and bunch them together into your pumpkin to make a pretty autumnal decoration.
Beads or Colored Rocks
By visiting any local craft store, you can find colored beads and colored rocks. Often time, especially in season, you can find premade bags with autumn colors like clear and orange mixed. Throw them into a mini pumpkin for a quick and easy decoration that's unique and really stands out.
You don't have to be a seasoned craft-maker to create a few simple decorations for your home that your guests can appreciate. And with easy projects like these, it will be very easy to get you into the fall spirit.
