Things to Give Harry Potter Fans This Holiday Season

Michael Sass
Christmas is coming, or late year birthdays as the case may be, and almost everyone has someone close to them who is a fan of the Harry Potter book/movie series. If you're trying to find a gift for that special Potterite in your life, I've compiled a list of some popular gifts for all Harry Potter fans. They range from relatively affordable to $$$, some are perfect for all Harry Potter fans, some are better for younger fans and some are meant for older fans of "The Boy Who Lived" (of course, they also happen to be the more expensive items). Whichever type of Harry Potter fan you're shopping for, this list will help you find the perfect Harry Potter gift.

The Harry Potter book series
The most obvious gift idea for Harry Potter fans is a copy of the six already released books, a copy of the as-yet-released seventh and final book would be an excellent gift to, but since it's impossible for us muggles to get an unpublished book, we'll have to wait until the book is released. The first six books are available on many websites such as amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com or at your local book store, a lot of them still carry copies of the older books on their shelves. Though most Harry Potter fans have probably already hoarded their copies of the books, some may be missing a copy because their original somehow got destroyed or they couldn't find one, and some fans have only seen the movie versions of the books and want to be able to read the actual books. For Harry Potter fans without any copy of the first six books, they are also sold in box sets. Prices vary depending on where you find the books, auction sites like ebay.com for instance, have many people selling the books at various prices and it is possible to find copies of Harry Potter books at low prices there.

Harry Potter Toys
The regular Harry Potter toys, toys that were released to general toy store like Toys 'R' Us and KB Toys, are harder to find as most are only produced when a new movie is released, the last released movie was "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" which was released over a year ago. The best place to find toys from the Harry Potter series is ebay.com which has many action figures, games and Lego playsets from Harry Potter. Again, prices will vary depending on the seller.

Harry Potter Video Games
The Harry Potter video games are available on the PC, Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube and X Box systems and are available on many websites such as amazon.com and ebay.com. There is one game based on each book/movie and one based on the wizarding world's favorite sport, Quidditch. All are rated E for everyone. These games are excellent for Harry Potter fans of all ages. They allow gamers to control Harry Potter's every movement, of course you still have to go to classes to expand your magical abilities, but the classes still provide a lot of fun for Harry Potter's fans.

Below is a list of items that are more collectibles than anything else and, unless otherwise indicated, should not be used as toys. I would suggest giving these to older Harry Potter fans who will better appreciate these for what they are. With the high quality of these items, they will be worth quite a bit a few years down the line. A hint to collector's: if they come in a box from the manufacturer, save the boxes they come in, having the original box keeps the items at a higher value than ones without the original manufactures box.

Harry Potter and Friends wands
Replicas of the wands used in the Harry potter movies are available at noblecollection.com. They have replicas of Harry Potter's, Ron Weasley's, Hermione Granger's, Draco Malfoy's, Dumbledore's and Voldemort's wands, as well as others. They are all excellent reproductions of the wands and make a great gift for any Harry Potter fan. Prices range from $29.50 for the basic wands and go up to $145 for the collection of four Triwizard Tournament Champions wands. I would advise not buying these for kids, they are meant as collectibles and should not be played with, in fact, noblecollection.com's items are all definitely meant for teens to adults.

Hogwarts Replica
Noblecollection.com also has a beautiful replica of Harry Potter's school, Hogwarts. It's hand painted and comes on a wooden base. The statue captures the beauty that every Harry Potter fan envisions when they see Hogwarts in their minds. The castle is perched atop a cliff and has intricate details that tell the owner that a lot of time and effort went into this statue. This beauty does not come cheap though, it's priced at $295, expensive it may be, but it's well worth it. So if you can afford it and really love the Harry Potter fan in your life, then this is a gift I highly recomend.

Hermione Ganger's Time Turner Replica
Another beautiful item from noblecollection.com. The Time Turner is a replica of the one used by Harry Potter's friend in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". It features a working miniature hourglass and the inner rings rotate. It's plated in 24 karat gold and measures 1 3/8 inches in diameter. It has an 18 inch chain and comes with a beautiful display case. The price is $49 so it will take a bit of giving on the part of your wallet, but it's still another wonderful gift for any Harry Potter fan.

Wizards Chess Set Replica
The Noble Collection also has a replica of the Wizards version of chess, of course the pieces don't move on their own like in Harry Potter's world, but it's a beautiful recreation of the set featured in the fist movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This is one item from The Noble Collection that you can play with, the pieces move and it works just like muggle chess. However, like most things from The Noble Collection, it's not cheap, at $395 it's probably the most expensive Harry Potter item on their site, but it is well worth the big money, just be sure the recipient will be very careful with such a precious gift.

This is only a short list of the items available at noblecollection.com, they have many more beautiful items on their website. Though the regular toys and books and games may prove hard to find depending on what the websites and stores have in stock, they are well worth the effort to find them, especially if you're on a budget. I hope this list has helped you with your gift hunting, I know that any Harry Potter fan would be thrilled to receive any of the items on this list. Happy Holidays!
