Things to Do If You Are Stuck at the Pittsburgh International Airport

If you have a long layover, a delayed flight or like to arrive early for your flight, there is no better place to be stuck than the Pittsburgh International Airport. Consistently recognized for meeting a traveler's needs, the Pittsburgh International Airport has been rated one of the best airports in the world by OAG Worldwide and ranked among the top five airports in the country by JD Power and Associates.

The AirMall located in the airside terminal is mini shopping mall in walking distance of all departure gates. Popular mall retailers such as Bon Voyage, Brooks Brothers, Brookstone, Clinique, GAP, GNC, Godiva Chocolatier, Johnston & Murphy, Lids, Nine West, Soxx Shop, The Body Shop and Victoria's Secret offer a full line of merchandise at retail prices. And, for those traveling from out of state, there is no sales tax on clothing in Pennsylvania. Hudson News offers books, magazines, snacks and sundries. Paradies Travel Mart is stocked with Pittsburgh souvenirs including Steeler and Penguin gear and authentic Heinz ketchup and Iron City Beer memorabilia. Sue Venir offers affordable Pittsburgh souvenirs in every price range.

Whether you are looking for a quick bite to eat or a sit down restaurant to enjoy a meal before or in between flights, there is something for everyone at the Pittsburgh International Airport. The Center Core, conveniently located in the center of the four terminals, looks like food court heaven. You'll recognize popular establishments like Au Bon Pain, Charley's Steakery, McDonald's, Qdoba-Mexican Grill, Quiznos, Sbarro and Subway. If you have the time to sit and relax and enjoy a good meal, there are three T.G.I. Friday's locations, in the Center Core and in Concourses A and D. Fat Tuesday's, specializes in southern style cuisine, and is located in Concourse B. O'Briens Grille & Pub serves American and Irish fare in the Center Core. Sam Adams Celebrates Pittsburgh serves authentic Sam Adams brews and variety of sandwiches, salads and appetizers.

The Pittsburgh International Airport also offers free Wi-Fi throughout the landside and airside terminals. If you are a history or science buff, the Carnegie Science Center and the Pittsburgh Aviation History displays are great way to kill some time without spending money and learn about the rich history of Pittsburgh.

And, if you really want to relax for a few minutes or even an hour, check out the XpresSpas located in Concourses A and B. And, if the kids need to unwind, visit Kidsport an indoor playground area for kids in Concourse C.
