Things to Do on Koh Samui Thailand

Garro
Koh Samui is one of the most popular islands for tourists to visit when they come to Thailand. Parts of the island have now become quite built up, but it is still possible to find a quite bit of beach and feel like you have found your tropical paradise. In the Thai language the work Koh (pronounced more like gaw) means island so Koh Samui means Samui island. It is the second largest island in Thailand, and for many tourists it will be the only part of Thailand they will ever see. The airport on the island means that you can fly straight there from Bangkok and other destinations.

There are plenty of things to do on Koh Samui for singles, couples, and families. There are enough activities on the island to keep even the most energetic person busy. The busiest part of the island is called Chaweng, and it is here that you will find plenty of shops, restaurants, and of course bars. There are also more hotels here than any other part of the island and you will find that these places cover all price ranges. Other busy areas include Bo Phut (Fisherman's village) or Lamai; where you can now even find a Tesco supermarket.

A bit attraction on the island is Namuang Safari Park. This is your chance to see some of the animals that make Thailand their home; you will ride on elephants and see animal shows; this is a great day out for all the family. For the more adventurous you can even try out some quad bike riding.

The island is also home to some beautiful Buddhist temples and monuments. One of the most popular of these is the Big Buddha statue. If you visit Wat Pla Laem you will be able to see a mummified monk.

The fact that Koh Samui is an island means that there are plenty of water activities. In fact almost anything you can imagine doing in or on water is possible. If you are interested in learning scuba diving then there will be many places for you to do this; be sure to look around to make sure that you find a reputable shop that will give you a good deal.
