Things to Do in Lancaster, Ohio

When in Lancaster, Ohio there are several things you must do before your visit is complete. Lancaster appears to be just another small Ohio city, but there is more than meets the eye in Lancaster. The average person who passes through this city will see it from US highway 33, which is known as Memorial Drive in the city. From this view Lancaster can appear dull as you are not really seeing the city. Lancaster is very spread out, and there is something to appeal to everyone in this city, 30 miles south of Columbus Ohio.

Lancaster, Ohio is home to several fantastic parks. At Cenci Lake residents and visitors alike enjoy the loop around the lake for walking, jogging or even roller blading. You will want to come armed with bread or duck food as there are over 100 ducks and geese that call Cenci Lake home. As everyone feeds these feathered creatures you will be expected to do so also. These creatures are quite friendly! Cenci Lake is also a good spot for fishing and the large shelter house is ideal for picnicking. One of the things I love most about this scenic lake park is the giraffe graffiti at the entrance!

While in Lancaster, Ohio you will also enjoy Rising Park where you can also fish, feed ducks, and enjoy the sprawling property complete with numerous shelter houses and picnic areas. The kids will love the big playground. If you enjoy hiking and scenic views you can hike up the mountain and enjoy a breath taking view of the city! Rising Park also offers public tennis courts.

Lancaster is also home of The Sherman House, the childhood home of General William Tecumseh Sherman. The Sherman Houses offers a museum and a lovely history lesson about The Civil War General and his time spent in Lancaster Ohio.

Lancaster also offers many fantastic dining, shopping and entertainment opportunities as well as a refreshing charm you can only find in cities of this size. If you are unsure of where to begin your adventures in Lancaster Ohio visit the tourist center or the library for more information on the city and activities in Lancaster, located in the heart of Ohio. You can also just set out on your own and browse the city until something catches your eye, and I am sure it will! There are many great small shops, weekend activities and parks awaiting your discovery in Lancaster!
