The news was once again started with Brittney, Nicole, Paris and all that was happening in "Glam Town", USA. I listened to them talk about killings and which candidate was doing what, to whom, and how bad the other one's are.
I watched as the fires in California continue to burn and a Dog got caught saying the "N" word. I saw highlights of the Boston Red Sox win yet another World Series while people in the stands waved the Japanese flag. I heard long time Yankee skipper turn down a multi million dollar deal to stay with the Yanks. Along with him A-Rod decided to opt out of his contract with the Yanks. (He needs more money)
I paused to see a show with celebrities and their professional partners dance across the stage while being judged by three totally opposite personalities. I caught a show about snobby, rich kids having catered 16th birthday parties with celebrity guests and incredible gifts given to them from their equally snobby parents.
I watched with teary eyes as a two year old girl with a terrible disfigurement have to endure yet another surgery to try and bring her to what we in this society call "normal." She could teach us all about what is truly normal and important in life.
I thumbed across the buttons to watch shows about flipping houses, flipping cars, and people flipping out. I glanced at plenty of stations with football, basketball, baseball, bowling, golf, tennis, etc.
On the music stations I heard a band sing about wanting to be Rock Stars, rappers wanting to rub there #&* on someone's #@$& while snorting #$% and a country star singing about Jesus. And I still haven't caught a music video on MTV.
I applauded the Little People as they overcome struggles in their daily lives to live in our "large" world. I watched a family of seventeen work together to keep peace in the house. I listened to the news as they once again talked about a person that was hit by a car and another story about a mother who lost her child to a gang related shooting.
And yes, there was even a piece about O.J. Simpson and the much better looking Jessica of the same last name. Surprisingly this weekend had nothing about Michael Jackson and his exploits.
Even the brave men and women of our military made it onto the TV for all of us to see and hear about. Loads of American flags flying here. But for some reason I didn't see one Japanese flag flying in their hands.
And we were graced with the presence of the Reverend Al Sharpton discussing that dreaded "N" word. Who on earth is Rev. Al Sharpton anyway and why is he always on TV with his posse?
I saw an ex carpenter build a house for a family that desperately needed it. I watched police take down yet another hours worth of criminals from our streets. I also watched as they confiscated more guns and drugs from the criminals they just captured.
I listened to the "Smiling" pastor talk on Sunday. I watched Ozzie, The Hulk, and Gene Simmons go about their daily lives with their families. I even watched Linus waiting for The Great Pumpkin.
So many things going on in our country for us to see and hear about every day. Some humorous, some disturbing, some gut wrenching and some heart warming.
With all that is going on in America these days I thought I would set my opinions down about all the things I love and hate about this great country. In this series I plan to lift your spirits about places and people, laws and rights, sports and reality TV, God and country, war and peace, parents and SUV's and of course O.J. Simpson.
Oh.........and more lead paint was found in products produced in China and an American car, Saturn, beat a Toyota in quality.

Post a CommentJust another day in the comercial pop culture world of American entertainment. Around and around and around she goes, where it all stops, nobody knows! Nice use of short paragraphs for easier reading.
Can't wait for you to make sense out of it.
Great social commentary.
