Things You Must Know If You Are a College Student

Todd Hicks
Is the time for you to start attending a university for the first time approaching? If so, there are many things you must do or know in order to increase your chances for academic success. You will learn what every college student should know.

You must know where everything on the campus is. The more you know this, the less time you spend looking for stuff. Also, it is best to walk around learning where all the key buildings are before a semester gets under way.

You must know everything about registering for classes. You must know what the overall costs are and the entire process that goes into doing everything you need to do before getting your diploma.

You should know something about getting financial aid. If you are hurting financially, it is especially to your advantage to be familiar with getting a scholarship, grant or loan. If you do not know how to apply for these things, your admissions office should be able to help you.

You must know who their professors are. You never know when you will need to identify them by name in order to get in touch with them or help them out.

You must know what their teachers expect from them. It is your duty to find out everything you must do to satisfy them.

It would benefit you to be familiar with using the student E-mail account your school has assigned to you, if applicable. One reason is that you might need to read an important message from an instructor. Another is that it might be the only way to see what grade you got on a final exam or semester-ending term paper.

You must know how to study. You cannot afford to have mediocre study skills at this level.

You should know when each test will be held. If you do not have a course syllabus that outlines this, you should keep in touch with your professor.

You must be familiar with the important campus telephone numbers. It can come in handy if you have an emergency.

It would be nice for you to know your teachers' office hours. You may need to see them at some point.

You must know the campus rules. It is up to you to know this to stay out of trouble.

You must find out how to take a good internship for their major. Employers want applicants to have the experience for the position.

You have learned what every college student must know.
