If you are looking for some good family fun that is not going to break the bank, why not consider spending the day at Port Dalhousie ON. Pack a beach bag and a picnic basket and head out for some fun. Port Dalhousie has one of the nicer beaches in the Niagara region. There is a nice sandy beach for kids to play. Bring plenty of sunscreen. There is also a carousel for children that only cost 5 cents to ride per person. Make sure you have change on hand as they do not accept bills. The ride last 3 minutes but you can ride it as many times as you like. Just check ahead as sometimes it is rented out for birthday parties. The hours for this ride are posted on the St. Catherines webstie but at this time of year it runs from ten in the morning to nine at night. This is an authentic carousel with stationary and moving animals. A whole family of four can hitch a ride for twenty cents. Now that is a bargain.

There is also many bars and restaurants along the strip. During the day it is more family oriented but when night falls in the summer this is definitely an adult hangout. In my younger days this was the place to be in the summer. You could walk from bar to bar drink have some fun, play some volleyball.

There is also a long pier that is great for walking. Many have taken a romantic stroll along this pier. The pier takes about 40 minutes to walk to end and back. It is a nice walk and there are benches for sitting. A good tip is to bring the wagon or stroller for your little ones. You will see couples and families and people walking their dogs on their leashes.

The Port Dalhousie park is also a good place for children to run and play. The park is fairly large there are covered shelters which is great for picnics. There are public washrooms by the beach.

There is always plenty to do in Port Dalhousie in the summer. A definite must go for families during the day. Things to note. Finding a parking spot in the park may be difficult, you may have to park down one of the many streets and walk but the scenery is nice so you won't mind. You may see many motorcycles as this is a popular hangout for bikers. This is really a non-issue though they pretty much keep to themselves and hang out at only two of the bars along the strip. They have always been friendly and I have never had a problem. I have been going to Port Dalhousie during the day and night for years and have never seen an issue with anyone yet.

The twenty somethings hang out at "My Cottage" mostly and everyone is just there to have a good time.

Port Dalhousie is a great place for everyone. Whether you come by boat or car you will agree Port Dalhousie is a nice place to be. Don't forget the Dragon boat festival is July 25.
