Things to Do and See in Libby, Montana

It's More Fun Than a Bucket of Huckleberries!

Libby, Montana is a small town located in the Kootenai National Forest along Hwy 2 with plenty for sightseers to do and see. It offers over 100 miles of hiking trails and many picturesque places to camp and explore the great outdoors.

Lake Koocanusa and Libby Dam

To get you started; Lake Koocanusa is the reservoir behind the Libby Dam. The scenic drive west on Hwy 37 will take you to this recreational field day! There are plenty of spots to fish and camp and the long winding road is perfect for sightseeing. There are plenty of areas to pull off for the best views Mother Nature can present.

The Heritage Museum

If you are looking for something a little closer to town, the Heritage Museum is less than a mile south of Libby and has exhibits on lumbermen, early area pioneers, Native Americans, and trappers. It is run by volunteers eager to conserve the Libby, MT areas intriguing past. It is only open during the summer season though, so make sure you plan accordingly.

A few in town sightseeing places for drivers

In town sightseeing is always a delight. A trip down Louisiana Ave has many beautiful homes. Mineral Ave is the "gut" or the main downtown area. You can stop by The Montanian Newspaper's office and meet the family that runs the business. It opened in 1989 and has been locally owned ever since. You can also check out the stores along the way.

Statues and Murals in Libby, Montana

Libby, MT also proudly displays larger than life statues of Eagles, which can be found easily while driving Hwy 2. You can also spot several Nordic statues around town including one in the Libby Town Park.

A few buildings along Hwy 2 have murals painted on the side. They are gorgeous and add to any sightseeing trip. Bring your camera with you because these are worth to time to stop and snap a photo of yourself in front of one.

Huckleberries!

No trip through Montana would be complete without huckleberries and Libby, MT has plenty of places to enjoy these tasty treats. Henry's Restaurant on the corner of Hwy 2 and Idaho Ave has the best huckleberry shakes. If you just can't get enough, Helen's Candies and Rosauer's grocery sells huckleberry treats. Both are on Hwy 2 and easy to find. If that's not good enough for you, Mountain Meadow Gift's will make you a Libby gift basket with huckleberry soap, huckleberry lotion, huckleberry muffins and much more!

Whether you are here for a day or here for a week, you can always find plenty to do and see in Libby, MT. In fact, that is how many of us ended up here. We loved it so much, we moved! See you soon neighbor!

    kill your children, move to Libby.Today, there is over 3000 being treated for asbestosis and this does not count ALL the children and grandchildren of those 3000 plus, who also are walking dead and await diagnoses.Stay the hell away from this death town. Tremolite asbestos kills you....kill children...yours!
