If you are considering setting up at a flea market, here are some ideas to pick items that will sell well at your local flea market. Selling at a flea market can be a lot of fun and is a great place to meet people but the point of setting up is to make money. To do this, you need to have the right products, here are some things you can do to find what will sell.
Research
Before you set up to sell at a flea market, visit the flea market and browse the products that are available and the product's prices. Also observe which items are selling well and for how much (are the items selling at the asking price, or is the vendor giving a discount, etc.). Ideally, you should spend at least a few hours a day at the flea market on multiple weekends to gather information. Use what you learn to decide which items to sell. Once you are setup at the flea market, continue to keep an eye on your competitors and see which items move best. Don't hesitate to ask customers what they are looking to buy.
Your Passion
If you have a passion for a specific product, you should focus your energy on selling that item. For example, if you are a fishing fanatic, sell fishing gear. If you love golf, sell golf equipment. By focusing on what you know you will find the work more enjoyable and have more success relating to your customers, which generally means mores success selling items and making money.
Cheap
Everyone likes to find a bargain. If you have the ability to come up with products that you can sell for less than your competitors at the flea market, chances are it will sell well. To start with you may want to sell off things from your home that you no longer need. If you travel frequently, look for things to sell that you can buy in one location cheaply and sell at a profit at your flea market. Set the price to move the items quickly. Don't overlook your neighbor's junk as well. Wooden furniture set out with the trash is free and will generally sell quickly at a flea market. Kitchen tables and chairs, end tables and similar items can often be picked up for free and sold quickly. To find more products that you can sell cheaply, do some browsing on the internet for wholesalers of products and visit yard sales late in the day to make offers on the leftover items.
