Things to Think About when Buying an Air Bed

Alexandra Morgan
Buying an air bed is easy, but you'll want to think a few things over before you do so that you don't end up having to go back to the store to make a return or an exchange.

Who Is the Air Bed For?

Is the air bed for a guest or is it for you/family member? If the bed is for guests, you may want to opt for one of the cheaper standard air beds that are available at most stores for around $30. It all depends on how many guests you tend to have and if your guests are predominately single or married. If married, you may want to spring for a queen or king size air bed.

Is the Air Bed for Home or Camping Use?

It's pretty simple and straight forward to assess what size air bed you will need or want for home use, but if you're purchasing an air bed for camping be sure to note the size of your tent before purchasing, you don't want to end up with a bed that's way too big for your tent.

What Do You Want To Get Out of Your Air Bed?

There are several types of air beds to choose from so it's good to assess what you want to get out of your air bed before shopping. Questions like these should be mulled over before reaching the store: Do you want a small air bed that won't take up much space? Do you want an air bed that gives the appearance of a real bed? How often will the bed be used? How many people do you need to accommodate? You get the idea here; there are a lot of things to consider before shopping so that your money isn't wasted.

If space is an issue, you might want to go with one of the smaller, standard, low to the ground air mattresses; these are a cinch to fold up and store and won't use up all of your available floor space when inflated.

However, if having the appearance of a real bed is important to you; you may want to go with one of the high rise air beds. The high rise air beds sit up off the floor about as high as a real bed would, but beware; you may have to get a little crafty with the bedding because the air mattress is the equivalent height of what a real mattress and frame together would be.

You'll want to think about how many people you tend to be accommodating as well if this is a purchase for guests. An inexpensive twin or full size air bed might be just the ticket for a single guest; however if the bed is for you or for a married couple, you'll want to buy a larger size.

How Much Do You Want to Spend?

Decide on how much you'd like to spend and then see what's available in that range. Air beds range from around $20 for the simple, standard, low to the ground air mattresses up to around $100 for the high rise air beds. If you hope to keep your air bed for a while, it's wise to invest a little extra money in it.

Conclusion:

If you keep all of these things in mind when purchasing your next air bed you should come out of the store with a product you're happy with.

Sweet dreams.
