Things Women Think Are Sexy but Are Not

Anyone can spot a sexy woman. They are usually the ones oozing confidence, style and grace. Some women are naturally sexy while others have to work at it. It can take a long time to develop a style that is attractive and it can sometimes go horribly wrong. Some women are guilty of taking things too far when trying to look good. Here is a list of things women think are sexy, but are not.

1. Fluttering eyelashes

This is an absolute major pet peeve of mine. Until a year ago when I came up against someone who literally fluttered their eyelashes in front of a man, I thought this was something that only happened in cartoons! Just because products have been invented to enhance your eyelashes, it doesn't mean you have to create a draft by flapping them up and down! It makes you look as if you have something in your eye, not mention it is a little bit pathetic.

2. Pretending to be dumb

It's true, some men like a ditzy woman. They like to protect them and care for them. But if you are not naturally ditzy, it is very un-sexy to pretend that you are. Ultimately, when the guy finds out you were putting on an act, he won't be interested anymore, and it will annoy anyone who knows you to see you behaving that way. Being cute is okay. Acting like you left your brain at home is not.

3. Flashing too much cleavage

Most men kind of like a woman to show a little bit of cleavage. Boobs are always fascinating to men. But too much and you go from sexy, to trampy. There is nothing wrong with showing off what you've got, but suggestive is always more attractive than letting it all hang out!

4. Being too forward

Confidence is usually the main ingredient in a woman being sexy. But coming on too strong could have a man running scared. Just like with cleavage, subtlety is the key. Many women make the mistake of thinking that being overly suggestive is sexy, when classy is usually preferable. Don't make lewd suggestions to a man you have only just met, or he will quickly run for the nearest exit.

5. Too much make-up

Unless you are a fully qualified make-up artist, you shouldn't plaster your face with make-up. It is astonishing how many men appreciate the natural look. For unknown reasons, gigantic false eyelashes, think black eyeliner and excessive blush seem to be the norm these days. The truth is, with that much gunk on your face, you look like a clown or a chav, and neither style looks good. Equally, plucking your eyebrows off then painting them back on with a pencil is ridiculous. Stop it immediately.

6. Telling people about your underwear (or lack of!)

"Going commando" may seem like a necessity when wearing outfits which are particularly clingy but telling people - particularly those you are trying to attract - is a sign that you are easy. Unless you have plans to put out after a few drinks, stop doing this. It is only sexy to tell a man you aren't wearing underwear if you have been with him a long time and plan to have your way with him later! Many women think this is sexy, but it really isn't.

7. Excessive Tattoos

No disrespect to those who have tattoos, as some can look really good. But having permanent artwork scrawled all over your body doesn't look great. And even if you think it looks good now, in twenty/thirty years time, having an enormous fairy drawn all over your back may not seem like the best idea you ever had.

Being sexy is not about how much skin you show, how well you do your make-up or how many cheeky remarks you make. Sexy comes from within a woman and projecting it outwards needs to be done with much care. There is a fine line between sexy and slutty - be careful not to cross it.
