Lee's Legendary Marbles and Collectables
Lee Batteron is a man who is serious about his marbles. "Lee's Legendary Marbles and Collectables" is a combination museum and flea market that features an extensive marble collection with pieces dating back to the late 1800's. Some of the marbles are extremely rare such as the "Lutz" and pre- World War I marbles.
Created in Germany the "Lutz" marbles have a feature that distinguishes them from all others - a tell-tale iridescent rust color swirl.
The characteristic "Lutz" marble swirl comes from the goldstone used to make them. Goldstone is a form of glass that is manufactured from copper and or copper salts.
The pre-World War I marbles are also rare thanks to the materials used to create them. Those marbles, unlike its more modern counterparts, contain Uranium.
In addition to the thousands of marbles, Mr. Batteron's collectibles also includes rare coins and other antiques.
"Lee's Legendary Marbles and Collectables" is open year round but the hours tend to vary depending upon the season.
As of 2010 admission to the museum is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children ages 12 and under. There is also a special family admission rate of $10.00.
