Yes, we all have heard about the repercussions of smoking when it comes to physical health. But have you ever thought about the environmental or financial repercussions? If you live with people who smoke you may have witnessed some of these things. The first thing that I would like you to think about is the financial repercussions of smoking. The price of cigarettes is going up all of the time. Do you live with someone who forgoes paying a bill because they have to buy their cigarettes? What about all of the fun things that could have been purchased instead of those cigarettes? Are their children in your household that are doing without because your parent has a smoking habit? You may want to think twice before you start smoking. Another thing to think about when it comes to finances and smoking is that many companies will not hire a person that smokes. I know that this is discrimination but it is the case. A person that smokes can lose out on a lot of opportunities when it comes to jobs. They can also lose out on promotions too. People just naturally discriminate. It is a fact of life.
Another thing to think about before you decide to start smoking is how much time it will take away from your life. What I mean by this is that once you start the habit you will need smoking breaks. You will crave the nicotine and will need to stop and have a cigarette. Could you have spent that time doing something more profitable for yourself? We both know that the answer to this question is yes. Not only is it going to take years away from your life from a physical stand point but it is going to take minutes away from you daily where you could be making a better life.
As far as the environment goes, there are repercussions as well. There are two percussions right off hand that I can think of. The first one is that a person that smokes smells like cigarettes. Many times their home smells like cigarettes. It is because of this that they will not have as many friends that will come over. The friends may be allergic to the smoke and therefore will not come to the home. The second repercussion that I can think of environmentally is that it affects others in the home physically. We have all been told that secondhand smoke is more dangerous than the actually smoking. I would encourage you to think about this before you decide to give into the peer pressure. Do you want to affect other people's lives with your habit?
Think twice before you begin to smoke. There are so many repercussions. You are already aware of the physical repercussions and if you are not I would encourage you to find out what they are. The above article has mentioned just a few other repercussions when it comes to financial and environmental. Please take the time to analyze these before you decide to smoke.
