Skiing and snowboarding sports do require a little more gear than some activities. A lot of people who enjoy skiing don't have skis lying around. Don't worry if you don't have them either. Virtually all of the locations on this list have outfitters nearby or on the property that can help with these items.
That makes it really easy to think about Virginia for skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports. Outfitters are businesses that are devoted to filling your needs for a particular sport. They will be glad to sell or rent the equipment to you that you need to hit the slopes.
My family has found that bringing a few items from home are necessary. These are simply a warm hat, gloves and a scarf plus a jacket and thermal underclothing. If you have them, handwarmers and ski bibs are plus. Otherwise, you can pick these items up at the outfitter.
When you decide on Virginia for skiing, snowboarding and winter sports it's helpful to take a class or two. Occasional skiers can forget techniques over the year. Classes are helpful to learn new tips. The resorts listed below are in all price ranges. Most of them offer group rates and lessons.
