Thinking Out Loud - Climate Change or Bupkus?

"A Climate Change Response Must Have at Its Heart a Redistribution of Wealth and Resources." - Emma Brindal

Charles B Reynolds
Climate change. It is real.

But that is where the "dirt people" and I part ways.

They say it is a man made problem. It's all those nasty carbon dioxide "pollutants" we keep spewing into the air. We have to change our evil ways or we will all die.

But if you argue facts with these people, who keep wanting to quote science and logic for their points, suddenly turn all emotional and unscientific.

You're just one of those "deniers" they will shout. You hate the earth, they proclaim. You're just a greedy capitalist, they'll hiss!

Point in fact. Our puny emissions of carbon dioxide pales in comparison to what comes from the ocean as a result of undersea seismic activity. The earth's surface is three fourths water. The tectonic plates shift and release both heat and gases, which bubbles to the surface. This causes carbon emissions.

Point. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, as we exhale it and plants need it for their own process of emitting oxygen, which we need. And it seems to me, logically speaking, that if plants need carbon dioxide to make oxygen which we need to survive, shouldn't we be glad there is carbon dioxide emissions? Since there are more people on earth (something those "dirt people" like Ted Turner would like to reduce, by whatever means possible - including forced sterilizations and euthanasia), don't we need more plants making more oxygen?

Point, The solar activity is slow, meaning less sunspots, meaning less heat coming our way. This is evidenced by the planet's temperature actually going down in the past eleven years (despite All Gore's claim that "the planet has a fever"). And if there is more carbon dioxide, promoting more plants, and keeping heat in, maybe the higher carbon dioxide (only a few parts per million - like about 5 parts per 1,000,000 parts) is keeping us from descending into an ice age which may kill off billions.

Point. It is those non-greedy "dirt people" who seem to be quite interested in making money from this situation. The whole idea of selling something as intangible as "carbon offsets" is not only ludicrous, it is pretty damn capitalistic. And do you know who would make the most money from this ridiculous idea? Al Gore and Warren Buffet, two of the biggest decriers of the whole global warming nonsense.

And one more point. There has been recorded climate change on other celestial bodies in our solar system. Jupiter, Mars, Saturn's moon Titan and Pluto are also undergoing a change in their climate. Don't know how many SUV's or Hummers they got running around up there, but I doubt it is enough to blame their climate change on.

Finally, once the term "global warming" was found to be inaccurate, these nut cases decided to change the tern to "climate change". Therefore, I am in agreement that there is a change in our climate. But our climate changes all the time. The ones who would benefit the most are the loudest voices in this debate. People like Al Gore would make the most money. President Obama, the Democrats and the left wing liberals would capture the most power. And the little people, who would most be affected, socially and economically, are the ones who would bear the burden of their incorrect assumptions.

I want you to look at the facts, not listen to the hysterical and often wrong proclamations of people who have something to gain from your fears.

Agree with me or disagree with me, it makes no matter to me. Just so long as I get you to think for yourself. Heck, this is just me, Thinking Out loud.

Have a great day.

Charles

So how we would "dirt people" people make money by foisting a fake scientific phenomena on the public? I would love to know, especially now during the financial crisis.

So you think that creating new jobs by researching, developing and implementing non-carbon-based and renewable sources of energy is a bad thing? really? As a teacher with an extensive background in earth science, I know that a change in the CO2 level of "only a few parts per million" can have a huge effect on the ocean, on coral and ultimately on all of us. It's so much easier to say "Climate change is bupkus!" And your comment about climate change happening on other planets (Mars) proving that climate change on earth is "natural" is laughable.

finally a voice of reason. The Scientific community for the most part are a narrow minded lot. They seek the soothsayers of there own clique to validate there bullshit rhetoric. They have no understanding of GOD or his Creation

I enjoy reading your "Thinking out loud" articles, Charles. As far as climate change goes, wasn't the world supposed to end 100 years ago due to this situation? There will still be theories 100 years from now, and I do believe humans will still be around, and the plantet will still be in existance.

It's total bunk! Some scientists have just come out against global warming...where did I see that? Wish I saved the article. Re: Agnes' remark...if people follow suit with the group mentioned in my "Green to Extreme, Humans Must Die" article, there won't be anyone around to laugh!

  • Charles B Reynolds11/18/2009

Agnes, from your lips to God's ears. I hope there are people around to laugh.

  • Agnes Farside11/18/2009

I totslly agree with you. I think that 100 years from now, when everything is just as it should be, people will look back and laugh at the global warming phenomenon.
