Thinking Out Loud: Illegal is Illegal

"Our Immigration System is a Broken System that Needs to Be Fixed. We Need Reform that Provides Hardworking People of Good Character with a Real Path Towards Citizenship." - Joe Baca

Run this scenario in your head.

You're sitting in your house watching television. You hear a noise coming from the basement. A moment later, a homeless man comes waltzing up the stairs into your kitchen. He goes to your cabinet and takes the last of your Tylenol, rummages around in the fridge and makes himself a sandwich. He then complains that there is no mayo for his lunch, and your spouse runs right out to the store to buy some more. The guy then heads upstairs and you hear him go into your bathroom and start a shower.

Flabbergasted, you call the police. When they show up, you explain the situation and tell them to get this guy out of your house. They go upstairs. IN a few minutes they come down and start to leave. When you stop them to ask what the heck is going on, they tell you its okay, that the homeless person is just trying to make a better life for himself. After all, one of the cops say, its so much nicer in your home than on the streets. They give you a change of address forms for the guy to fill out, and they leave.

You have a headache, but you can't do anything about it because this person has taken your last Tylenol. You would go up and splash cold water in your face but he's in your bath. And he ate the last of the bread. Before long, the homeless person emerges from your bath, announces he's going out on the street again but that he'll be back. When you look into your bathroom, you quickly leave as it is a disgusting mess.

Now how would all this make you feel? One person I spoke with said they would track down the police at home and send the guy to them. Another said they would give the homeless person a sound thrashing and kick them out. Still someone else looked scared and said they would lock their house up tight.

Now that you have all that in your head Lets change the scenario around a little.

Make the homeless guy an illegal alien. Your house is the US of A. The Tylenol is the health care system and the food is the welfare system. The police are the left wing politicians and liberal media. Your spouse represents the 'sanctuary' advocates such as the church and some mentally disturbed individuals such as the mayor of San Fran.

Now how does it make you feel?

I have no problem with immigrants and think that our current immigration system is overtaxed and outdated. Heck, if it weren't for immigrants, 99% of this country wouldn't be here. That is not the problem here. Hundred's of millions immigrated to this country, made lives for their family and embraced their new found home; language, culture and pride.

The problem is everyone's collective brain fart when it come to the word 'illegal.' The problem here is that it is illegal immigrants, those who flaunt our laws and our system to do what they feel like. In simplest terms, they are criminals.

I am not saying that all illegal immigrants are violent criminals who rape and sell drugs and murder. But a good percentage of them are. With somewhere between 12 and 20 million illegal immigrants in this country, our health care system is overtaxed, and those that really need help suffer at the hands of these people. Business owners have illegals to pay low wages and the jobless rate among citizens keeps climbing.

I just cannot understand the thinking of people who ignore the "illegal" part in illegal alien, are willing to allow them to keep being a drain on our country's resources and are also willing to see law abiding citizens suffer while those who readily violate our laws get rewarded instead of punished.

I think we need to begin looking at this problem as a more personal issue. It is high time we realize we are being violated on a daily basis by millions who care nothing for this country. We need to stop associating illegal aliens with those who came here legally and begin thinking of them as the criminals they are. We need to see the US as our house and the illegals as that homeless guy who just wandered in and began using up all of our stuff because he wanted a better life. We need to send all of them back their country of origin.

They want the better life? Emigrate legally or fix your own country.

You can agree or disagree, call me a champion of American values or heartless cynic. Either way, something needs to be done or this country is going to have more problems than worrying about the mortgage, credit or election crisis.

But no matter, this is just me thinking out loud.

Have a great day!

It makes me feel sorry......for you, that you have this kind of mentality. It makes me feel sorry.....for your kids, if you have/will have any, to think that some of it might rub off on them.

Good article Charles. I'm not sure if you know, but I am an immigrant from the UK (Scotland). I am a LEGAL permenant resident. I totally agree that all immigrants should have to go through the same process as I did to become legal in this country. I work and pay taxes, and it bothers me that people come to this country and get everything for free, and not pay into the system at all. I could go on about the illegal issue for a while, but I'm not writing a novel here ha ha. I agree with you totally!
