Thinking Out Loud - Who Killed Masoud Ali Mohammadi
"The Lady Doth Protest Too Much, Methinks." - William Shakespeare
"Rest assured that Iran will take revenge for the blood of martyr Ali Mohammadi from you," vowed Iran's Interior Minister, Mostafa Mohammad Najjar.
Professor Masoud Ali Mohammadi's death in Iran is being politicized by the government and the radical extremists in order to rile emotions against the United States and Israel. This kind of "emotional hijacking" is not only disrespectful to the deceased, it is hateful and inflammatory.
Professor Mohammadi did not work with or for the Iranian military, he was not part of some secret government research team, he had no direct ties to the Iranian nuclear program (though he did some nuclear theory work in his position in academia, but nothing groundbreaking) and he was not a public political figure. It seems the only link this 50-year-old professor at Tehran University had to anything of importance is his recent switch of support politically. He switched his support from he current regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to that of the opposition candidate, Mir Hossein Mousavi. He signed a university pledge of support for Mousavi. This seems to be the only thing that cold have gotten him murdered.
Did Israel have anything to gain by his death? No. Have you ever known Israel or the Mossad to arbitrarily do anything that did not have a reason behind it? I don't know about you, but for all my knowledge of them, they don't do anything if it doesn't benefit or directly affect them. And a little known professor who had nothing to do with anything but teaching young minds had no direct impact on Israel or their national interests. Seems to me that there would be more effective targets they wold have been focused on. I'm not advocating any such act, but it just doesn't make sense. And Judge Judy always says, "if it doesn't make sense, its not true."
As far as the United States is concerned, it would seem that anyone who opposed the current regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would be praised not assassinated. Even though President Obama has not openly embraced the street level protest by the average citizens of Iran against their dictatorial and oppressive government, they are not stupid enough to not realize how these protests could positively impact the security of the United States. The only reason the American intelligence agencies would have any knowledge of this educator would be due to his signature on the aforementioned pledge. And they wold have been happy about it, not upset.
So the rhetoric coming from official Iran, such as the statements by its President claiming a "Zionist style" assault that showed a "grudge" against the nation of Iran, is just so much bluster. And it makes one wonder that maybe the "lad", rather than Shakespeare's "lady", "doth protest too much, methinks." If anyone had something to gain from the death of this man, it is the Iranian government itself. He opposed them openly in favor of the opposition candidate. And we all know how much trouble that little election has been causing them. BBC News has also reported that Mousavi's nephew received "death threats." Al Jezerra noted that there were reports that his nephew was "shot by police."
If anyone had the motive, opportunity and wherewithal to murder this man, it is the Iranian government themselves. Mousavi has issued a statement that the "enemies of Iran intend to use the current crisis in the country to their own advantage." However, he did not identify who the enemies were to which he referred.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Iranian government's attempts to swing the focus of the people's ire against Israel and the United States is not only despicable, it is emotional hijacking on the highest order. The current regime was the only one who benefited from Mohammadi's death. They are the ones who are loudly screaming hysterical rhetoric. And they are the only ones who can suppress the truth of this simple man's murder.
It is about time that people who make a difference in the world stop letting these madmen scream their lies from the mountaintop and call them on their cowardly and despicable actions, inside and outside their national borders.
Agree or disagree, but for the sake of our children, think for yourselves and stop taking the word of every politician, media mouthpiece and self styled "leader" who shows up on your telly or radio. That includes me. Always look at ALL the facts, all the information, and weigh it logically. Use Judge Judy's measure of truth. If it doesn't make sense, it isn't true. Either way, its cool. Because this is just me, Thinking Out Loud.
Have a great day.
