Thinking Out Loud - What Do You Mean No Alternatives Offered?
For Every Moment of Triumph, for Every Instance of Beauty, Many Souls Must Be Trampled. - Hunter S. Thompson
Yet, here is what the GOP has proposed, has offered to Obama, Reid and Pelosi as an alternative to this monstrosity of a health care reform bill that does not do anything to truly reform. The following are just the key points (which can be found here). The full text of the GOP plan can be found here.
Under the GOP proposal, Health care premiums would be lowered. "The GOP plan will lower health care premiums for American families and small businesses, addressing Americans' number-one priority for health care reform."
They talk about establishing programs to guarantee access to affordable health care for those with pre-existing conditions. "The GOP plan creates Universal Access Programs that expand and reform high-risk pools and reinsurance programs to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses, have access to affordable care - while lowering costs for all Americans."
They are dedicated to TORT reform, to ending junk lawsuits. "The GOP plan would help end costly junk lawsuits and curb defensive medicine by enacting medical liability reforms modeled after the successful state laws of California and Texas."
They propose to prevent insurers from unjustly and arbitrarily cancelling policies. "The GOP plan prohibits an insurer from cancelling a policy unless a person commits fraud or conceals material facts about a health condition."
Their plan encourages small business to offer health plans. "The GOP plan gives small businesses the power to pool together and offer health care at lower prices, just as corporations and labor unions do."
Their plan would encourage innovative state programs. "The GOP plan rewards innovation by providing incentive payments to states that reduce premiums and the number of uninsured."
They want to allow Americans to buy insurance across state lines, which would create real competition and keep costs down. "The GOP plan allows Americans to shop for coverage from coast to coast by allowing Americans living in one state to purchase insurance in another."
Their plans would actually promote healthier lifestyles by shaping their programs themselves. "The GOP plan promotes prevention & wellness by giving employers greater flexibility to financially reward employees who adopt healthier lifestyles."
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) would be enhanced to benefit Americans. "The GOP plan creates new incentives to save for current and future health care needs by allowing qualified participants to use HSA funds to pay premiums for high deductible health insurance."
And dependents would be allowed to remain on their parents' policies. "The GOP plan encourages coverage of young adults on their parents' insurance through age 25."
How does this play out? Well, the CBO scored the GOP Plan. Here is the comparison between the GOP Plan and the Pelosi Plan.
Under Speaker Pelosi's monster of a Bill, job losses will be up to 5.5 million, Medicare cuts are expected to be $500 Billion and taxes will increase by $729.5 Billion. And what are the results of the alternative plan offered by the GOP, which Obama, Pelosi and Reid all tell you doesn't exist? Zero job losses, zero Medicare cuts and zero taxes.
That's right. Zero.
So how is it that the Congress is able to snow the public (and by that I mean all those twits out there that support this Health care Bill of Obama, Pelosi and Reid's)? Simple. They will not allow any of this information to be let out to the public via all their government controlled media. You can find it on the web. If you know where to look. You can hear it on conservative talk radio. Which Obama and the Democrats have derided since before taking office. You can see it on FOXNews. Maybe.
So now who is being disingenuous? Now who is lying? Now who is not living up to the promise to represent the American people to the best of their ability?
It is more than high time, and it might even be too late to stop this, to tell Congress that we have had enough of their lies. We are sick and tired of their politics as usual. I know the GOP has used these sort of tactics before. But never on such a grand scale. And never after having ridden into office on the horse of "No more politics as usual."
I know there are those who disagree with me. That there are supporters who will be offended at being call twits. But that's me. I have a prejudice against people who don't think for themselves. I can't help it. Stupid people tick me off. And there are those who sing "Hallelujah" at reading my words. And some of these are also people who refuse to think for themselves, taking my words and those of others as the absolute truth without checking it out for themselves. In other words, "twits." And they will also be offended after reading this last line.
But that is okay. Agree with me, or disagree with me, it makes no differences. So long as I got you to think for yourselves - or even think a little - its all good. Because heck, this is just me, Thinking Out Loud.
Have a great day.
