Thinking Out Loud - Napolitano NEXT!!

"In a Hierarchy, Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence." Dr. Laurence J. Peter (author of the Peter Principle)

Charles B Reynolds
Janet Napolitano, head of Homeland Security, said that the system "worked smoothly."

I wonder what "system" she was referring to? Oh, I know, she retracted the statement later, as people were shocked and amazed and were calling for her to resign, for Obama to fire her. But really, I would like to know what system exactly she had in mind when she announced to the world that the "system worked."

Maybe she was referring to the system wherein a foreign national in another country could approach our embassy and inform them of a possible threat in the from of his own son.

Oh wait, that couldn't be it because the people at the embassy explained that they didn't do anything extraordinary because this was just a father who was "looking for his son and wanted help." They never in their wildest imagination thought that the information being given them was about a possible radicalized youth indoctrinated into the jihadist mentality of terrorists, our enemies. I mean, why the heck would the father think the U.S. would help find his missing son?

Guess they have no analysts in the embassy.

Maybe she meant the system where the report was then casually sent to Langley, where it could be thoroughly analyzed and investigated.

Oh wait, it couldn't have been that because the report sat on a desk for several weeks and was only noticed AFTER the failed attempt by this terrorist. And did I mention that we are at war with terrorist, making them the E-N-E-M-Y?!

Guess the holiday vacation season caused paperwork to pile up. You know how hard it is to get people to work when they are thinking about their vacations.

Maybe, possibly, she meant the fact that the British intel agencies had tracked this guy making contact multiple contacts with terrorists in London. And they shared this info with the U.S.

No, that couldn't be it since the report previously mentioned was sitting on a desk somewhere and couldn't be compared with the MI5 reports.

Maybe she meant the system where Americans want to save their own lives when faced with a possible act of murder against them.

Yeah, this is one part of the "system" that might have worked. It was the brave act of passenger Kurt Haskell on Flight 253 from Nigeria who stopped this murderer from doing anything further.

Not to do anything to take from the decisive action by a great American, because everyone should be proud he did what he did. But the fact remains that the whole reason he and everyone else on that flight are still here today is because the bomb failed.

So I guess this is not the part of the "system" that Napolitano is so proud of having worked so smoothly.

Since she will not step down, as she should (what has she done to make this country any safer than it was the day she stepped into office?), and since Obama does not have the cajones to fire her, I say the citizens in this country should step up and DEMAND she step down.

Don't agree? Believe all the politicians who say she is doing such a bang up job? Okay, what has she done?

Terrorists can still slip across a border that has no way to stop intelligence challenged individuals let alone highly organized cells of murderous cowards. The intelligence community is still a loose association rather than one smoothly working organization that shares information. Veterans and patriotic Americans are put on watch lists while underwear bombers are left to "slip through the cracks." Immigration raids by immigration officials are condemned.

Agree or disagree, just look at the facts (not the political rhetoric of the left or right) and think for yourself. Either way, it makes no difference to me. This is just me, Thinking Out Loud.

Have a great day.

Charles

(As a side note, Laurence J. Peter, who once said "Men now monopolize the upper levels... depriving women of their rightful share of opportunities for incompetence," can now be happy that a woman as high up as janet Napolitano has reached her own Peter Principle.)
