Thinking About Paula Abdul

Even Through Surgery, She's Still the Best

You know, I've been a lifelong fan of Paula Abdul. In fact, my wife thinks I'm obsessed.

She has told me time and time again that she feels that she's in competition with the woman and we laugh at the notion, knowing that there's no one else for me but her.

...And Paula.

I had her posters on my wall, and even my parents to this day still ask me do I have that love for Paula Abdul.

As usual, I say yes, like an Arizona Cardinals fan cheering on the team when they're down by 20 in the fourth.

I watched "Hey Paula" and all her antics. I sat back and got the jeers, as my cousin would laugh when she did something a little wacky. It doesn't matter. I still got love for her.

So when I heard that she had finally gone to surgery on her neck, I was happy for her. She needed to get that straight.

It was early this month when the American Idol judge checked into the hospital for it. For any die-hard fan, we know what happened-the cheerleading accident. Not to mention, babygirl has also been involved in a few accidents. Even though she's gone through several surgeries, Paula always gets through it with her strength and perseverance. So I say kudos to you Paula Abdul. I rocked my "Forever Your Girl" cassette back in the 90s until it popped. I blasted "Straight Up" and made out on "Rush, Rush". I "Danced Like There's No Tomorrow" in New York City earlier this summer.

I'm not a "Cold-Hearted Snake" anymore but my wife is perfect because as we all know, "Opposites Attract."

Yeah, I just said that. Didn't I tell you I'm a Paula Abdul fan?

I mean, I'm in to Paula as in "I know she choreographed "Coming to America" type of deep.

Anyway, I just wanted to put a few encouraging words to everyone that's a fan of the diva that will hopefully have something out this year. The site said her album should be out this summer, but you know how that goes. Hopefully though we'll see something soon. I also hope that she's gets well soon so that she can keep dancing because she's great at it.

Paula deserves nothing but the best when it comes to respect in the industry. She has taught so many people how to dance it's ridiculous. Hopefully when the smoke settles on "American Idol" and when the show finally closes its doors one day, we can all say that Paula brought something special to the show.
