Stephan Jenkins graduated from the University of California at Berkley with a major in English. He quickly hit the nineties San Francisco music scene as a solo artist. Soon he began gathering the superb talent that would be Third Eye Blind.
The year 1997 was huge for the band. It saw their first hit, Semi-Charmed Life and on April ninth they released of the CD Third Eye Blind on the Elektra. In almost no time, radios around the country were playing no less than five tracks off the CD on a regular basis. The CD had reached hit maker status.
The hits on this CD include:
Semi-Charmed Life
Losing a Whole Year
Graduate
Jumper
How's it Going to Be
The songs are peppy; putting a lot of lyrics into the beat, but Jenkins' singing style made each one of the rapid fire lyrics clear and understandable.
I have a personal reason for nominating Third Eye Blind for CD of the decade. The song, How's it Going to Be, inspired me to write a novel. My novel The Long Journey Home was inspired by the line "How's it going to be when you don't know me?" Using "don't know me" instead of "don't love me" fired a story in my mind.
I have played this CD to death and it will always be one of my favorites. This CD may be purchased at any music retail outlet and on the following sites.
