Thirty Pieces of Silver

Eric Hubbard
Through the heart of man so cold
Temptation burned for money to hold
Thirty pieces of silver to betray a King
Thirty pieces of silver for him to bring

A walk through a garden in the still of night
Nervous, anxious, filled with fright
A chaste kiss upon His cheek
Delivered from one no longer meek

A procession of men, liars and thieves
Bearing false witness on the King of Kings
Pilate's hands were bound by the will
Of the people caught in righteous thrill

To the mount of Calvary He went
His followers emotions tired and spent
Upon the hill in agony He did stretch
Between a thief and a wretch

The sky darkened and thunder rolled
As signs and wonders they behold
With a gasp and a fleeting sigh
The Son of God, willed to die.

Prophecy had long foretold
This moment of hope for man to hold
A sacrifice performed for all the souls
Every one, in all their roles

Three days later up from a grave
To the acclaim, and the praise
He rose again to set us free
To live and pray, for eternity.
