Aboard the Dove and the Arksome British came to the shore
Of St. Clement's Island, on the 25th day of March of 1634.
They were Catholics and Protestants who came there first.
They called the settlement St. Mary. Their religion they would not coerce.

On March 25 of 1774, Parliament would pass another Coercive Act.
Due to the tea dumped into the sea, they called for the Boston Port Act.
The act clearly stated that the port would be closed
And a fine for all the dumped tea, on the residents imposed.

The army of Ulysses S. Grant had Petersburg under siege
For nine long months it lasted; his intention: Lee to besiege.
Tired of the events, Lee ordered an attack. On March 25th of 1865,
Gordon attacked Fort Steadman, after the details he did contrive.

It was a sad day for the city of New York, when March 25 of 1911
A sweatshop caught fire and 145 women were called to heaven.
This great tragedy led to a series of new regulations and new laws.
They demanded safety for the workers for a system that had flaws.

On March 25 of 1967, the Vietnam War was raging still.
Reverend Martin Luther King rallied up 5,000 men with will.
With them he marched through the city of Chicago. His declaration:
"a blasphemy against all that America stands for" as a nation.
