If I were to choose my all time favorite Halloween TV special, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" would be the top choice. It simply displays that life can be a little different from the norm, as Linus gives us the idea that during Halloween the Great Pumpkin will appear to deliver toys to all the good little boys and girls not unlike Santa Clause. It is the viewpoint of Linus that allows us to believe that Halloween can mean more than just candy and treats as he waits in the pumpkin patch to see the Great Pumpkin appear only to be disappointed, then vows to return year after year in honor of sincerity.
Now you don't have to rely solely on the peanuts gang to entertain you this Halloween, you can most certainly count on such classic horror programs as "Tales from the Crypt", "The Twilight Zone", "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Creepshow". These, and many more like them, provide a large variety of spooky stories and humorous Halloween trickery that can be shared with family and friends. You may also look for classic Halloween specials from Vincent Price, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, and Ghoulardi, to name a few. These programs will give you a peek into the old time horror genre of the 30's, 40's and 50's to experience that vintage Dracula and Werewolf style Halloween.
If movies are what you are looking for there are a mountain of Halloween delights for everyone. The classic Mike Myers story, "Halloween" starring Jamie Lee Curtis or the Jason Voorhees tale, "Friday the 13th"can make any Halloween frightful. Or, if getting scared out of your shorts is not your cup of tea, other Halloween movie favorites include the comedy Ghostbusters, starring Bill Murray and Beetlejuice, starring Michael Keaton are great family favorites that still savor the ghosts and goblins as you laugh out loud.
However you spend your Halloween this year just remember to have a happy, safe and fun time!
